I have had a big screen tv from Rent A Center for about 2 yrs now, and have paid $3,280.00. I have a payoff balance of under $500.00, and contract is fulfilled on 7/17/04. For about the last 15 to 20 payments I have been paying with a check from my business. Keep in mind none have ever bounced!
Today I made a payment using the same account, got a recipt, and thought that was it. OH NO MY MISTAKE! A new manager decides that they won't take my checks anymore and says "Rent A Center doesn't take personal checks for payments". And "we need to make immidiate arrangements to pick up merchandise or a warrent for STOLEN merchandise will be filed". So you let people pay $3,000.00 for a $2,000.00 tv that costs us $4,000.00 then change payment methods and call it stolen!
Not only is it expensive, when you are almost paid off they do anything they can to take it away. Great way to treat paying long-term customers!
