University of Phoenix Online DONT GET SCREWED BY AXIA FINANCIAL COUNSELORS!

I began my major in psychology in February. I had just had twins and was only 19 at the time. I had no car, no job, no realistic chance of going to an on campus college. Counselors assured me thatAxia Collegewould be my best option. And it was... For a while.

In December of I received an email from my financial counselor informing me that I needed to pay for two failed classes within the next 45 days or my account would go to collections. Working minimum wage and supporting twins, this was not going to happen.

Now let's rewind a bit; about three months prior to this I did fail two classes due to problems with my laptop breaking. I had no way to turn in assignments other than to go to the library, which was usually closed by time I got out of work. I was aware that at some point I would be paying for those classes.

After this, I spoke with my financial counselor on multiple occasions, despite problems in the past with her failing to return phone calls. She explained that after I finished the upcoming classes I would need to pay for the twoupcoming classesand I would be able to reimburse myself with the grant check I was expected to recieve at some point. However, on the other hand my academic counselor informed me that as long as my GPA was brought back up by the end of my classes, I would be fine. This should have been my first clue that they had no idea what they were talking about.

About a month prior to recieving that email, I spoke with my financial counselor about setting up a payment plan for the two upcoming classes I would need to pay for. She said that I would be able to pay $100 every two weeks. I specifically asked when I would be paying back the money I owed for the two failed classes and she informed me that I didn't need to worry about it and that I could make payments at my convenience through the student website.

Apparently she "forgot" to mention that after being out of class for 29 days that any payments I did make would start going to the debt for the classes I failed. She also failed to mention that my transcripts would become locked and I'd basically be screwed at that point.

Not once did I recieve a letter in the mail or an email fromthe university stating any of this. I recieved no bills until after that email. No notification — nothing. I only had six classes left to finish my associates. My recommendation would be to look for a different school, one with counselors who know what they're doing.
