Of Greenville South Carolina sales person lied and deceived us and sales supervisor hung up on us

When we took our tour of Uniway in Greenville, South Carolina we were leary about joining only because we are in the process of applying for a mortgage for a new home, and we did not want any inquires on our credit at this time. When we explained to the sales man, he assured us that there are many people who come to uniway in this same situation and do an "inhouse" financing for people in this situation and that they would carry the financing without running our credit until we were finished with our loan for our home. We watched him write in huge letters across our application envelope "In House Only".

Because he had told us they sell computers, I called a few days later to ask what kind of computers they sold and was told by the secretary they do not sell computers. Ok, I can give them that one.

Next I noticed on the papers that we were supposed to be able to look at a book! When my husband asked the sales person if he could look at a book he said "We no longer allow people to look at the books because the manufacturers feel that is advertising and we're not allowed to advertise". Ok, now I started getting a little concerned... Well quite concerned.

The final straw was a phone call I got from a finance company wanting to speak to my husband to confirm his application for financing. When I started to tell her we did not apply for financing threw any finance company, she told me a credit inquiry had already been run and it was to late and that she could not process our application without my husband verifying the information. I started to tell her the entire story and she said they were not happy at all with Uniway or their practices.

From there I called Uniway and asked the secretary on if I could speak to someone in management to get some answers. She informed me that no one was there except for a few sales people and they were busy. I explained what happened and she said she would have someone call me back on Monday.

Before I had a chance to call them on Monday morning, I received another phone call from the finance company from a different person wanting to verify our application. I told her the whole story and she to told me they were not happy with Uniway and would send my application back with a note. She also verified that the credit report was run and we were correct that it would affect our credit score. She was very angry with Uniway.

As soon as I hung up with her, I called Uniway and asked as politely as can be, if I could please speak to a manager or the owner about a question about financing.

As soon as the man answered the phone, (he said he was the manager of the sales persons) he was rude. He was not only rude, he yelled at me on the phone and hung up on me! I asked him his name, and told him I had a few questions about what his sales person had told me. I started to go threw the story but told him this isn't what has me upset, and before I finished my sentence, he said "then why are you bothering to tell me this, just get to the point!" He was NOT nice, but extremely cocky and nasty. I told him these things the sales person told me were not true and started to tell him about the credit agreement the salesperson told us.

I told him my husband, myself, and my daughter were standing in front of the desk and watched him write on the application envelope and mark the box "other" so it would be in house. All of a sudden he started screaming at me it was all just mistakes and he wasn't going to deal with this conversation. He said he wasn't going to listen to the word "lies" when simple mistakes were made by the sales person as well as the office and HUNG UP!

He never gave me the chance to ask him what they could do to rectify this, or if they could rectify this, before he just hung up on me! I did not call him to get out of anything, I just wanted to know what they could do about it.

Now, of course, I am totally disgusted with the treatment I was given. I have never been treated so BADLY by anyone let alone a company I would do business with, when I haven't even made a payment yet! I am a new customer and am still writing this as dumbfounded as I was when he hung up on me. I have been in business before, and I would never treat a customer this way! Now I have to wonder what kind of rip off artists these people are. What kind of people are these Uniway employees. What have I gotten myself into.

Also, I would like to know how many people out there have been lied to (sorry, have had mistakes made at their expense), and what can be done! What they did to us was fraudulent!
