I was invited to Uniway by mail. I wish I could remember the guy who showed me around but I don't. Anyway the day I walked into that showroom has been officially the worst day of my life. I was invited one evening after work, i was late because I have no idea were it is. Once i arrived i was given a tour of the facility. The tour of the place made you think that there were really good savings, but once they tell you the membeship fee you actually don't save a damn dime.
The mebership fee was something like $1500.00. Of course I told him that i did not have that kind of cash and this is how they get you, they offer you the option to finance by putting so much down and making monthly payments. I still told the guy that, the amount was steep and that I had to talk it over with my significant other, so he gave me the option to post-date a check until I made up my mind of whether or not i wanted to go through with it.
What was not explained to me was the cancellation procedures. Once I went home and discussed it with my fiance, he pointed out all the spending that you would have to do in order to save, with that in mind I cancelled the check that was post-dated (which was what i discussed with the gentlemen) and sent the agreement back. I was never told anything about certified letters having to be sent back with the agreement. From my understanding since the check was post dated all financial agreements or monthly payments were not applicable without that check. When I attempted to call the showroom I was always put on hold and never got to speak with anyone of authority.
To make a long long story short Uniway went through some financial company called UCAC (which i am convinced they are in on this scandal) which were suppose to finance the agreement (without my knowledge). Keep in mind the check was post-dated and cancelled, and the contract sent back to Uniway. They still sent all my information in to be financed which has caused numerous phone calls to my house saying that i owe them money because they have paid Uniway.
Now that Uniway has their money they could care less about the post-dated check or what was discussed with me I started recieving payment coupon booklets before the date of the check which lets you know that he had no intentions of holding the check and what we talked about was invalid, now I have a company threatening to take legal action against me for something that was not even my doing. I took this mans word to hold that check until my mind was made up. If there was any money given to Uniway they need to pay it back.
