Needs to be stopped! Now! It's enough!

Well, after reading the HUNDREDS of reports about this shamful orginization, I guess it's time for me to write my own. I can't believe that this orginization has ripped off so many unsuspecting individuals; it kind of makes me sick! I, too, have been a victim of this scandel.

My story begins with my financial aid.in the beginning of my first block of classes (which began just 9 weeks ago) I was told I was accepted for full financial aid. This wasn't a suprise to me because I had attended community college in the past, and had no problems getting the aid I needed to go to school. So, when I was asked to send my mother's tax information to the UOP, I was told that she needed to sign her name in a "random margin" anywhere on the paper and date it before she faxed this information. She didn't have an issue with doing this, and once she did, we took it to be faxed. I began my classes shortly after.

A few weeks later, I received an email from my finance councelor saying that I needed to, as soon as possible, send in my mothers tax information to the financial aid office. I was a bit confused to this because I couldn't understand why I needed to resend this infomation. After getting in touch with my financial advisor, I asked her why I needed to send this information once again. She told me the reason was the finance office claimed they could not see my mothers "random" signature, and therefore, needed the papers again. I assured her the signature was on the paper and began to question if they had actually lost the information. I then spoke to my enrollment advisor, and she told me instead of sending my paperwork to the office directly, to send them to my finance advisor so she could see if the signatures on the papers were visable. I agreed, and once again, the papers were faxed. The next day, I called my financial advisor asking her if she received the paperwork. She told me she did infact get my papers, and she also had no problems locating the obvious signature. She told me she didn't understand why the office could not see the signature, and assured me that she would take care of this issue and everything would be fine. Yeah... Fine right?

So, about a week or so before my first block of classes end, I get a note from my NEW finance advisor, stating that the financial aid office is requiring me to send my mom's tax information. SERIOUSLY?! ARE YA KIDDING ME?!

I then get on the phone once again with my advisor, asking her what the heck is going on now?! Of course, she plays dumb as if she has no clue whats going on, and proceeds to tell me that she has never seen anything like this before. She puts me on hold, and tells me that she is going to speak to my finance advisor. Ok... Waiting...

She gets back on the phone (very snippy... Funny how she was SO nice before) and tells me that ONCE AGAIN, they claim that they can not see my moms signature on the papers, and that I'm not her only student and she had already told me this information. WOAH! She tells me that she is going to have to stall my second block of classes because of this issue. Also, I am told that as soon as I send in the paperwork for the third time; IF they can see the signature, then everything will be covered. Ok... Whatever... I'll just send it again... FOR THE THIRD TIME!

Well, ready for the big finish?

So, a day after my first block of classes end, I get a letter in the mail from the UOP financial aid office. This is what makes me laugh...

It states in this letter, that I am no longer eligable for financial aid because I did not send in the proper documentation in the required time frame, and I am required to pay ouf of pocket my outstanding tuition of $4,500. YEAH RIGHT?! Immagine that one folks! Not only that, but they are making me pay for my second block of classes! Classes that I have not even taken yet! Classes that they wont let me take until I pay this four grand out of pocket.

I call my advisor and she of course has no explination of why this is occuring. The only thing she tells me is I may have to pay out of pocket for this year, and next year we can try to apply again. HAHA! Can we say class action lawsuit?! Bunch of liars! How am I suppose to know that FAFSA hasn't already paid them considering it said (directly from FAFSA) that I was eligable? Hmm... Charging me twice huh? NICE! Wouldn't be suprised! This... Whatever you wanna call it... SCAM is a joke! I'm going to see what needs to be done to get this lawsuit thing rolling... It's enough! This joke needs to be stopped.
