The Model Connection - Karen ripoff disrepresentation

We were sent a flyer in the mail to attend a siminar for a modeling/fashon show day of fun for my 14 year old daughter. It was her birthday, so we figured she would have a great time learning from the pros. We had to pay 75.00 for this siminar, which was okay, we thought it would be worth it. When we arrive, we are told now that this woman "Karen" is actually in the area scouting for new talent, she is an agent and some of the girls could be called in the next morning for a second "interview". This makes my daughter very excited. At the end of the day the girls were given sheets of paper that noted if they made the final "Cut". On the paper it states and I quote "Congratulations!!! You have been selected to be a part of the Model Connection team. Your appointment to interview with a model connection staff member had been scheduled below" my daughter was selected as one of the girls to come in the next morning.

All day Karen stressed that she was NOT a modeling school and that she was looking for new talent. That the girls would be paid if/when they made the cut. The next morning (Sunday) my daughters actuall birthday we go to this interview, parents are "encouraged" to attend. For the first 10 mintues of the interview she only looked at my daughter and explained how much fun this was going to be for her and how much she would learn and benefit from this workshop. She was told that these workshops would be on saturday mornings and that they would learn everything they needed to know in this. THEN she shifts her attention to the parents, this is where we were told that this was going to cost us more than 1200.00 at this point she is turning on the sales pitch, 500.00 for this 300 for that 100 each time she had a workshop and so on! My daughter was crushed!

This woman plays on the emotions of these girls, talks about how she will represent them and how much she can help them and then wants to to PAY for it AND the girls have to do thier own portfolio and thier own resume and thier own scouting once the workshops are over. We asked Karen what it was we get for the money she is asking for and she said "Registration fee includes a lifetime membershio to the model connection newletter which features all the current jobs auditions and casting... Oh and a tote bag" We said "We were told you are not a school and that you would be her agent! Why in the world would she have to look her jobs up on her own!?" She insisted she is not a school, and even snapped at my husband and said "I thought I explained to you what you get!" So noted that this agency does NOT represent the girls they sell them a bunch of nothing! We stood up and left, angry and my daughter hurt and displeased. Don't get suckered!

Had she had been straight foward and honest we may have listened to her pitch, but she misrepresented herself and her intentions from the start!

The website address to this so called company is here http://www.themodelconnect.com BEWARE They only want to drain your wallet... The rest the girls have to do on thier own!!!
