I have had a Getsmart Mastercard for two years, never having made a payment late. About six months ago, I recieved a letter in the mail stating that my account was being closed, and the interest rate was jacked up from 14.99% to 29.99%. I was immediately outraged and called the company. They told me to go ahead and write them a letter requesting my interest rate be lowered and it would be done. I did that, and they have refused my request. I started writing them a letter a week. If they are going to rip me off by doubling my interest rate, I am going to take up their time. I am suprised Providian is still in business, they have been sued a million times!!
