Please forgive my bad spelling.
I am a student at Itt tech in cordova, TN threw 2 quaters I've attended a community college so I'm basing this off of experince and I'm very disappointed so far.
I went threw 14 months of chemotherpary and a week after my last treatment my friend flipped her convertable 3 times from the head trama and loss of blood I have probablems with memory and cognitive thinking sometimes yet with these probablems still have a high I.Q. 136 that's phscyology testing in my medical records says that not some online test. Now to the school
I took ITT's assesment on there computer I'm not sure if illumi remember it but I missed 2 and I distinctly remember getting the rep and she said "wow done already" scents my accendent those things are nice to hear and stick with me. But I started out with everyone else still. I was told I could test out of a class if I think needed, but they have a rule if you come to the class at all you cant test out. Then they wont give you your books till that quater. How am I suppose to know if I know everything I need to know in 1 to 3 days I cant.
What I understand is I payeed for the entire 2 years y cant I get all my books now. For example I have math I on Fridays I'm just shy of a mathimatical genius, but in high school I took pre algabra and went into bunisess math class so although I pick up on what she teaches I could have learned it last quarter if I would have had the book to look it over and test out of the class I think this is a ploy to make you take every class. Another tactic they use is misnaming or bad judgement in choosing names for courses like Strategies, I know you took this course cuz it's miss named and you wouldn't have kown to test out of it, I was very impressed with my teacher on the first day. She went threw the whole class probably 27 people and remembered everyone's name's she said we were going to be able to do that when we were finished, it should be called windows basic programs. I just about wanted to shoot my self when I put it the TAIT disc in and some lady's voice came on and said "today we're going to learn how to open and close a word document" I'm looking to learn something if I wanted to waste my time I would look at the wall in my room. So then the next class on my list is "strategies for problem solving" now if you ask me there's no strategy for when you don't have a problem if things are going good the strategy is to go with the flow. So to me this seems very much like the first class, wait no it's math if I every would have taken math at my C.C. It probably would have been math 99 or 98 if I knew I would have tested out of this. At the moment I want to state all my books state how great ITT tech methods are and how usefull they are in the real world. I'm sorry but who every is writing these books needs some pointers. Cuz your writing a book on 7th grade stuff Itt tech is not going to be the greatest teachers on this stuff I'd say High school is your best bet we're here you don't have to sell us anymore or could it be another ploy to keep students thinking there learning stuff use full stuff that they already know but when you refresh it and the students realize how important it is to know how to balance there check book and draw a graph to see how much money they spend and make could be use full. Am I suppose to appreciate this school.
Now don't get me wrong I can understand if my grandma entered the exact same program I have her skills would be totally different and she would need strategies and maybe math 98 but that's what I thought was going to be different about ITT tech they would somewhat customize a program for me.
Now lest go to my last class of last quarter intro to photoshop CS3. Oh what did you say CS4 has been out for 4 months way to be on the cutting edge. None the less I was impressed once again we were going to learn how to take an empty room and fill it with things make it look like we took the picture like that didn't get that far, we were going to learn how to take blemishes form people's faces, skipped that lesson I guess, but I think what really pisses me off is the simple fact that if I try to change the color of something it looks flat. Now I read you BS excuess you only get what you put into it well that was my favorite class and I'm probably her best student, and I have straight A's now as other's have said before me is all you have to do is put money into it and you will get your daployma.
I started getting worried when I was messing around on AutoCad it has a 2008 policy don't know what version but I took a manual drafting class and AutoCad 101 at my C.C. And the teacher of the CAD program at ITT tech told me that's excelant work and asked if I was a returning student. When I informed him I was a Visual communication student he asked Why and said I have a natural talent. Now I like to think highly of myself sometimes but I have a uncal who draw scamatics on CAD and an uncal who draws his blue prints on CAD there's a big differents in drawing a floor plan and making your house come alive in AutoCad I truely believe anyone can make a floor plan with just 5 min's of training but the later of the two is finding a rythem it really cant be learned you have to feel what's right sometimes.
Now I'm in week 8 of my 2nd quarter and like penny super glued to the floor this school is feeling more and more useless the more I pick at it trying to get the damn thing loose. Math I the class is not even in the right class room on the first day so I walk in 5 min late where I'm told that I have to sit in the front of the class "well thank you very much but that's where I sit anyway and I'm not in 1st grade I don't need to be told where I need to sit, if you would inform the office where your class would take place for now on I will be on time." and then she goes on to tell the class that scents she has to be there on time so do we. Whatever we got some lady whose on some power trip I'll deal with it. The next 3 classes she's late. Now here's something I can't deal with is a hiporcrite I talked to the dean "oh yeah she has medical problems a herniaded disk sorry I have a poped disk also but I sum how manage to ride my bicycle to school eveyday and be here on time unless someone has changed classrooms again. Typeography I'm sorry to say I haven't learned anything from that class got a cool teacher I remember him saying if you miss a day just read the chapter in corraspondace with that week I get my material from the book. Now I thought his teaching was boring no just his reading from the book about something I don't really care a whole lot about I mean change the words a little bit make it kind of intresting. I see it like this I got the book for a reason and that reason isn't for you to read from it so I can follow along teach me something else then what I already have. And back to photoship 2 but they don't call it that some kind of basicly design with a purpose mainly to show someone how to opperate something. So in the two quarters I've been attending school I feel like a pot smoker diving for quarters in a water fountian. I'm not getting anything use full out of this and I can't remember crap from day to day. And the bad thing is I never smoked pot don't need to with school's like ITT tech around.
I know two returning students 1 is a Criminal Jutice which seems like the only decent path to take with ITT tech she's a sercurity gard now at ITT tech lol. Then there's another guy he says he works for a local company he programs games mostly for Iphone but he says they make xbox games and others. He said they were looking for a couple more employees, when asked how much they pay, he answered "that a good question..." with the attention of everyone in the class now he answered " lets just say I've been working there scens Oct. And only made $178. Now this company isn't looking to hire there looking for valenteers. And if this is what ITT tech job placement is wow. You know they say you know your doing what you love when you could do it for free but I think if you do it for $178 for 10 months you probably should be looking for honeymoon spots cuz I think you found the one.
As I said before I believe the contract says you pay for your whole program and there's no refunds so I'm going to find out what's to come in the quarters ahead. I've been typing scens 2 am its 6:23 need to get some sleep
