I Have not been a customer of Fingerhut/aka Axsys for a while, I had purchased from them many times, especially when you need something that is fairly descent looking from the catalog and some expensive items. I first purchased from them about 6-7 years ago, but I still get catalogs sent to me and I look at the catalog, because I never had received anything badly damaged or returned anything, like some of the other people have had bad experiences with returning items and not getting anywhere with the CSR at Axsys or Fingerhut.
I had no idea that this web site existed until I got in the mail yesterday a bulk mailing from there Axsys, known company name saying that they care about protecting there "cardholders' policy, which I think would be us the customers, you hope! I have to add this in before I tell everyone about this letter I received.
I also had lost my job over 2 years ago, and we alomost lost our house, things were bad as I'm sure you all have some kind of idea how bad this can be, I was always paying each month, but after the date my payment was due, I think I had a balance due at this time around $700.00 give or take a few dollars, I haven't had this account in a long while, since I was able to finally pay it off, last year, also get the collection phone calls, we were getting alot of collection calls at this time, If I can remember correctly without look at all of my husbands notes and If I ever spoke to them, (this account was only under my name and SS#, I was surprised when I had left the company that I was first told about Fingerhut, no other name at the time, I think they changed to Axsys and I'm not sure but I remember getting a statement in the mail instead of the booklets that they used to give to pay on, at least when I had gotten the first catalog at my home, not at work, they had my name and address since I had handled one of the accounts at work that we had all ordered from, I was told that at that time Finderhut just let companies order, not individual accounts, does anyone know if this was true, that has been doing business for many years? So when I left and they sent me a catalog, I saw that they sold video cameras, and since my husband was a part time videographer and he needed a new camera soon, I thought that this would be the only way not being able to put out all the money for a new camera that we didn't have a this time even with us both working at this time, 1993,94 or 95 not sure of the date with out paperwork, but I ordered it for him as a surprise and it worked for him just great, I had always paid for the extended warranty on large items that I had purchased, because something like this the regular warranty wasn't that long, i think it might of been for 1-2 yrs if that.
I had ordered other items, back then this is what I had accumulated this large expess and all the other items that I had gotten, because it was part of our monthly bills that we included to pay with our income coming in, after we had bought our house and I had lost my job in 1996, this got hard at I had stated above and my husband had called them I think and tried to talk to them like I had read also about someone else that had written about Axsys/Fingerhut and they said no and we had to pay them our normal payment due and as you know that most of the credit card companys or other companies, such as Electric bills or telephone company, as long as you call them up they do have policies that they will stop the interest accumulating, so you will only have to pay the amount you can afford and the balance due as of that date you call in and tell them that you lost your job, I have noticed with alot of credit card companies since this account has been paid off and have gone back to work and finally getting a descnet salary that they offer you the option to pay line so many cents per your every $100.00's your have on your statement.
Example of this is if you have $900.00 balance due on your account this month and you selected this option you would be billed on your statement and your credit card that your have with them if it is say $. 50 per $100.00 your would be charges $4.50 each month for this service if your lost your job, which I have gotten on all my credit cards. Axsys I don't think offer this to there customers. But as other people have said and I have experiences the phone calls and the bad customer service when your call about your account that has to pertain to what you owe them, not if your a purchasing something or signing up a new account with them.
I sorry if this is really long, but I just can't believe that there are so many emails on this website, about this company, I was so glad when I was able to pay my statement in full and be rid of them, and like I said they keep sending me catalogs I think lately I have been getting at least 2 in one month and telling me that since I am one of there best customers, yeah right, do your really want to do business again with me after I was unable to pay on time, I'm sure, you would think, that If this was another credit card company and they see this on your credit report that they probably aren't going to give you a credit card, especially if you didn't pay on time for at least 6months. Maybe I am just out of my mind, does anyone agree with anything I'm saying, I think I read one of the emails on this website that had a similiar experience with mine that they had done business with them for 7yrs. And they lost there job and they started getting phone calls even though they had called Axsys/Fingerhut and told them about losing there job, and they were so rude to them and didn't even care about there hardship they were going through, they only wanted their (Axsys/Fingerhut) money on time and they kept getting the bad phone calls. So I guess that what had happed to me has indeed been happening all over the world to many people. All I new is after I had read maybe three (3) of the emails on this website, which I had gotten to by just typinh in the "Search" mode in the internet www.axsys.com a bunch of different email address came up and I saw this usacomplaints.com web page, I said after opening the letter I got that I can finally tell you what I received today in the mail from Axsys, when I saw the name I said this looks very familiar this name Axsis, but not remembering that it was same as Fingerhut I typed in the search and I saw this website and said I am going to see what everyone and how many people are saying. Anyways you can see by this long note or text, I don't even know if I have a limit on how many word i can type, it just says to write your report in the following text box, which I have been doing very late at night, or morning, since it is 4:14 am here in CT. I really should be in bed but I needed to get line when I saw this letter and see what this is all about, which by the way did anyone else get this letter, because it looks like it is a mailing that has gone out to the customers list or at least who has been a customer in the past and I thinkt they what they are saying in the leeter is this: "Axsys National Bank Privacy Policy" is what is is titled at the top then it says Axsys National Bank cares about protecting its cardholders' privacy. It then states that by signing this paper and putting your customer name, address, account number, (which I didn't think I had since I had paid my account off over a year ago, they didn't start sending me a new catalog until about 6 months or so after and telling me If I open an account I have instant credit of up to $400.00, maybe your have the same account number all the time, but after I was in arears and they new my account was not being paid in full like a regular credit card say on there statement please pay in full or the minimum payment, we all know they make there money by charging the high interest rates. What is the rate this year, I never ever looked on the catalog order form to even see, because I still can't beleive they are still sending me catalogs after my last credit problems. I will never do business with this company again, just by seeing all these other reports and going through what I did and thinking at the time I had placed that first order many years ago that they were a good company and never thought to look even at the better business bureau, and see if back then, (in the early 90's and when they only took company orders, at least when I worked at the company that had told me that they had been ordering from this catalog throught the years before I had started, I just thought they were a good company. As we all know this is not true as time has gone by.
Please resond to this email if your have anything in common with what I had to say, even if I might have goine into more detail than other people had, by just telling what had happen to them not there whole history with this awfull company. Again sorry for going on so long, but I really would like to know if anyone else and if they did do a bulk mailing to all there old and existing customers, send out this letter that I received today.
