First Consumers National Bank
Ripoff business from hell

The last bill that I received showed that I was $34.67 over my credit limit and my payment was due May 13. I called and made a check by phone payment prior to the May 13 due date. When I called, I spoke to a human (if you can believe that) and stated that I wanted to make a $50 payment. My finance charges run about $10 a month, so I figured this would be just enough to get my balance back under the limit. The man accepted my $50 payment without incident.

Then, on May 22 I received a letter in the mail stating that I was $69 and some odd cents over my credit limit. I could not figure out how this was possible. I called the 1-800 number and actually got to speak to someone. He told me that my payment had posted (on the due date even though I paid it early) but that I had been charged an over the limit fee. I asked how this was possible and was told that on the 18th of April my account was over the limit so they assessed the fee. So, I asked why this did not show on my statement.

I was told that bills go out on the 18th of the month. Then, at midnight that night, they assess all the extra fees. This way, I think I'm paying all I need to get under the limit when in actuality, there is another $35 bucks on there I don't know about. This is BULL S#IT! The man who took my payment over the phone never bothered to tell me that at the time I made my payment I was actually $69 over the limit... Nice. I still can't figure out why I'm now $69 over when all he could explain was a $35 over the limit fee. This company sucks.
