A couple of weeks after I joined the Big Bang Products Inc. Program as an affiliate on the Internet, I received a phone call from the Big Bang Marketing company, asking for my testimonial on how much money I had made with them. I told him I hadn't made any money yet, as I had just started. He then told me about a personal coaching service that would help me succeed online.
His supervisor, Anthony Feagin, then called me to describe the many "advantages" of enrolling in their "program" of business building. He then stated that there was a cost for the service, and that it costs money to start a business. He started asking me about my credit cards, and what the credit limit was on each one. The first amount he wanted to charge me was $10,000 U.S. I said there was no way I could afford that. He then said that there was a "basic package" for only $4490 U.S.
He also gave me a lot of hype, making me feel that there was no way I could fail. He then wanted me to do a three-way call with my credit card company to approve the transaction, and he also told me that our conversation was being recorded, and that after three days, all sales were final, and I would be unable to cancel. I don't have a clear memory of him saying that, but my understanding was that I would have three days to review the materials that were being sent to me, and then I would still have the option to cancel.
When I tried to cancel on Friday night, leaving a VoiceMail message for him, and also at Customer Service, I received a call back from Anthony on Saturday morning, and he tried to influence my decision and get me to change my mind. He actually did succeed, somewhat. He informed me that the company was a member of the Better Business Bureau, and that they were there to help me, not hurt me. He also stated that his company had helped an elderly lady who couldn't get down to the County Clerks' office by going and getting a licence for her. He also informed me at that time that if I cancelled, I would be charged a restocking fee.
After discussing it with friends though, over the weekend, I had decided definitely to cancel. A good friend and I did a three-way call to Anthony on Monday morning to tell him this, he was extremely nasty and insulting. When my friend Nicole informed him that further action would be taken, such as reporting to the Better Business Bureau, he got very angry and told us that their company had a good relationship with the Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau, and that things were done differently in Canada!
Later that same day, I received a call from Customer Service stating that I had only three days from the time I enrolled in the program to cancel, and after that, all sales were final. She also informed me that the company had a tape recording of my agreeing to this.
I hope you catch these guys.
