The purpose of refinanceing my present mortgage was to get out from under intrest of almost ten percent... Dena, the mgr. Of the local office promise me that she would not charge us any prepayment penality. We are an elderly couple [75/72] and are living on a fixed— disability income. We were told everything was okay. We felt since Dena was a minister's wife, that she could be trusted. So we continued with the loan papers.
We had to pay approximately $1000.in misc. Fees. Then, when we got to the closing meeting at the Title Co; at the last minute, Dena says, "Oh, one more thing, they sliped in a five year prepayment penality." Dena decieved us. She planned right from the start, to charge us a five yr. Prepayment penality. She made me feel that I was taken advantage of at my exspense.
And I was treated as a senile or alzhemier patient. Dena's "better than thou / hollier than thou / smug attitude" made me angry. And I resented the un-professional attitude she used in conversation with me, or other customers. I have contacted the main office and the loan company that bought our loan & their attitude was: you signed it, you can't change it. And they refused to help us in this matter.
