So where do I start. I was looking for jobs at creerbuilder and accidentally didn't check off one box when filling for a job. So my phone number was forwarded to some colleges. Colleges that you don't even want to attend like westwood college. I mean I preset next and withing minutes I got phone call from westwood college which means they are desperate. Since they were so desperate, I thought I would go and check it out since it wasn't far me. I meet with Keith at 8501 w higgins in Chicago.
Westwood college recruiters use a system. They take few questions about you, show you power point presentation, take you around school, and not carefool enough you will sing up. ITT tech uses the same system.
Westwood college is not Academically accredited college in illinois. Now I don't know if I used right term Academically accredited college. Anyways, what I am trying to say is if complete courses at westwood college and transfer to some other college they probably will not be accepted.
I sort of laughed at this part. Westwood college claimes accelerated process at obtaining degree. Which should mean that you will get your degree faster and save money at the process. This not the case with westwood. When I was talking with Keith I was put in degee that required 189 credit hours for BS degree. Plus you don't get certified in anything, so sad. For comparison I went to devry and I could get better degree at 120 credit hours and be certified by 150. I was show prospective income through power point presentation, sort of odd that the presentation was dated to 2005 and college claims it is giving you skills that are needed now.
Westwood has 10 week terms. Each term is about 12hours and will run around $4300 so somewhere by the end of school you are looking at $66000 and more. Don't forget, you will need books. Don't worry they do have financial aid and loans. One of many questions that I got during my visit was if I got somebody that can consign for a loan.
While during visit Keith was stressing how important westood's carrer center is. Actually, I think he was trying to make it a selling point of the college. I asked him how it works, the answer was disappointing. He said two terms prior to graduation they take students and try put them in work place. I don't know if any of the recruiters looked at jobs recently. Two terms in westwood college is about 6 months. Many employers in addition to education require year or more experience in the field. That's of course if you are looking for a job over 50k. When that times and you go to westwood college career builder you will be provided probably with leads of monser or careerbuilder. I know when I was going through job listing on the board there were stuff from craiglist, some of them scams.
You should be in charge of job search and immediately upon entering to the college start looking for a job in your field or intership. Don't wait to half way through.
Education is the to go. I think westwood is hiding much of the truth behind huge promises. It will be up to you to be successful and not some college to tell you to.
