Complaint / Review
Axia College, University Of Phoenix, Apollo Group
Has burned me twice!

I have been "attending" online classes with Axia since July. I like the classes and all the instructors except for one. Most of my instructors have pretty impressive credentials, are helpful, and seem to know what they are talking about. My only complaint up until now was related to financial aid. Paula, my financial advisor told me when I was getting my refund checks and how much money they would be.

The first check was fine. The second was only for $600, which was over $1400 less than it should have been. I called her and she came up with all sort of explanations, none of which made any sense.in the end, she denied that she had ever told me that I was going to get a check for over $2000. I knew better, because I asked her direct questions about disbursement dates, amounts, and I repeated exactly what she said to my husband.

I received paper work saying that the loan company was giving me the over $2000 check, so I am worried that I will owe them for money I never received. I had put that issue on the back burner, thinking it was an honest mistake, but I know I need to check into it after reading the posts on this site.

The newest problem, as of today... I have been dropped from a class due to not meeting attendance requirements. I KNOW I met the attendance requirements, so I was shocked to find out they had done this to me. I talked to Paula and my student advisor, Corrina today. Paula said she had my attendance record pulled and I did not post more than one assignment. I know better. She told me to prove it, which is impossible because the class is over. I can no longer access that classroom.

So, basically I'm screwed. I feel completely defeated. I know how hard I worked in that class and it was all for nothing. I love going to school online, but the Axia system is obviously flawed and possibly fraudulent. I think I need to find a different school to attend. I am not blaming Paula and Corrina for this attendance issue; the records supposedly say what they say.

The problem is, I insisted that I posted both of my assignments and Paula said maybe I did post them and one just did not show up, which does happen sometimes. I understand that. But when that happens and I get kicked out of a class because of it, there is no recourse. I 'm just out of luck.
