Attempted to ripoff on frivolous account and no validation of claim

I received my first letter from CAMCO back on October 15.

This letter was to notify me that an account which was formerly held by Capital One, F.S.B. Had been purchased by them andthis letter was an attempt to collect on a debt of $449.80.

Knowing that I have never done any business with Capital One, I wrote a letter back to them disputing their claim and requested validation of their claim.

Then I received a letter from another company dated Augest 15 2002.in regards to their client CAMCO And a debt of $475.66 which was for the same account as before. I wrote a letter disputing this account and attached copies of CAMCO'S original letter and my letter to CAMCO. I also let them know that I was reporting CAMCO to the Oregon Department of Justice, The Financial Fraud/ConsumerSection. Needless to say this company closed the account immediately.

My advice isto make a file for every company you do business with and save everything for proof in the future.
