The College Network passed themselves off as if they were connected to Excelsior College. I made the huge mistake of purchasing their study materials to the tune of around $2000.00. I paid in full at the time of purchase, but four and a half years later, they were busted by the state of Texas for evading sales tax.instead of owning up to the mistake, they send out letters to their former and current students who had already paid them requesting to be "reimbursed" for the tax they had to pay.
I disputed and discussed this with their combative staff to no avail, they still turned me in to a collection agency called American Credit Exchange who is also owned by the same company. I encourage anyone sharing this battle to turn them in to the better business bureau (takes 5 minutes), and Federal Trade Commission.
I have never filed with consumer complaints before, but have never seen a more sly, surreptitious, and unethical company in my life. The funny thing is, I never utilized them to finish my education obviously because their study materials don't prepare you for the real college test by Excelsior. Bottom line, a merchant cannot retro charge a consumer when the original price was set and paid at the time of the transaction.
