Sterling Van Lines
Ripoff deceptive company Miami

We have been a victim of Sterling Van lines also know as AY Transport and a few other names! At the beginning of October, Ron Gordon, Relocation specialist contact us very nicely regarding our moving from California to North Carolina. He sent us an estimation price per pound. They came and picked up our furniture on the 30th of September.

When everything was in the truck (11pm) they charged us by cubic feet and the estimation price had doubled. They even charged us more because the price was over THEIR quote. They charged an x amount us to 625 cubic feet, which they say equals 4,500, and an even greater amount for everything over the 625 cubic feet. They said they would weigh the truck before and after the pick-up, but that was never done. We had to pay 25% of the amount and they would not accept our credit card as it was agreed with Ron Gordon before the pick up (it still says all major credit card on their website) Unfortunetly, we had no choice but to pay them because we were flying the next day to North Carolina.

About a week after the pick-up date, Ron Gordon started harrassing and yelling at us everyday over the phone asking for a wire transfer to their bank for 75% of the amount otherwise we won't see our stuff again. We wrote out a check on Friday the 11th of October and sent it to him, on Tuesday the 15th of October, he called us up and started screaming at us, he called us a liars and told us that we will never see our furniture again. He told us to cancel the check and wire the money to him.

We cancelled the check, which cost us $29.00 and then proceeded to wire the money through our credit card company which they said would take up to 5 days. We asked the credit card company to do a three-way call to Sterling to prove the payment was being processed. Two days later Ron Gordon called and threatened us again because he had not received the wire transfer. Even though the credit card company said it would take up to five days, Ron was now saying to me "that is B.S." and he wanted my to cancel the wire transfer and send the money via Western Union. That is when we drew the line and told him he would have to wait for it.

The transfer went through and we agreed to pay $1000 cash at the delivery. The delivery was set for November 1st, it finally arrived on november 3rd, the driver ask for the money before taking any items out of the truck, swearing that all of our stuff was in the truck, but we demanded to check if everything was there or we will call the police. After one hour of dealing with the driver and his supervisor David over the phone the driver finally open the truck and started moving our furniture onto the street.

After all the furniture was out of the truck we found that our rocking chair was missing. The Driver Gili remembered the rocking chair in the storage, he described it perfectly and promised us that he will stop by in 2 weeks with it on his way to somewhere. Until December 5th David was telling us that as soon as a driver will come into our area he will deliver it. Then Ron Gordon told me that they don't have the rocking chair and that he sent us an insurance claim for it. I never received it and I am still asking for it.

On the their site it says "Customers automatically receive insurance coverage of 60 cents per pound per article". Now each time I call the line is busy, they blocked my phone number and when I call from another line I reach Ron Gordon who tell me that David is not in the office and to stop being a kid and he laughs. This company put all our family under a lot of stress, our child of 15 months was totally stress out and became sick, my husband was not able to work because of the constant calling from Sterling all day, this company should be out of the market. It's time to make an example of a company in this industry and punish them for their unethical behaviour.
