Capital Benefits Group Global Service Club consumer fraud ripoff

In October I was contacted by telephone by an agent of this company informing me that because of my improved credit situation, I was selected to recieve a Visa card unsecured for the credet amount of $5000. I was very suspective at first, but listened to the whole pitch. The Girl explained to me that for 289.99, would be joining a membership with vacation packages and other offers. I asked her about this Visa. She told me in no uncertain terms that this was a gaurenteed Visa with a $5000 credit limit and that they worked with several banks to make this offer. After asking them several times, I agreed to buy the package.

I thought this could be a genuine offer due to the fact I had been paying off a lot of old debts from my old marrage and had recieved a small amount secured Visa from another company. I had also been approved for a loan for a new Jeep. So I thought that maybe this was just the Card I was looking for. A man came on line and informed me that our Conversatin was to be recorded. Before I gave him the final OK, I again asked about this card. He told me that while they do not issue the card, they work with several companies that Gaurenteed approval and that I had in fact been approved.

He told me the forms for the card would come with the package in the mail in ten to fifteen business days. About two weeks went by and I called customer service and was informed that the package had been mailed and that the forms for the Visa would in fact, be in the box along with the papers. When the package did arrive there was a lot of worthless info on of all things, how to stop annoying telemarketing calls, and Identy theft, a few papers for hotel destinations, but nothing for a Visa, in fact, not even a mention of a Visa card. I called customer Service and asked them about it, they acted all suprised and gave me a 1-800 number for a visa company and was told not to tell them anything about them referring me their number but to fill out an app by phone.in fact I was given two numbers to call.

By the time I got back to these guys they had closed. I called the next day to ask what was up, and was informed that they dont issue visas. The lady was very abusive to me. I told her that I would contact the Atty General here in my state and she finally got me on with a supposed manager. I explained what had happened and how it came to be that I bought their package. And that I could prove it was a fraudulent sale. That I would contact the Colorado Attorney Generals office. She Informed me that they dont issue refunds, but in my case she would make an exception.

Having worked in and around the courts for a few years, I was able to obtain a refund, but with my refund came a letter stating that by cashing the check it was releasing them fron any law suits in my state. My advice, if anyone calls you on the phone and offers you a credit card, dont bite like I did. I was plain and simply lucky I knew which strings to pull or it would have been bye bye to my $289.99. I wonder how many others have been ripped by this companies scam!!!
