Where do I begin? I enrolled at AI online in 2006. I took out student loans, used pell grants and was told I could take both online and campus classes to fit my lifestyle and schedule.
I stuggle with math and unfortunately got NO HELP from professors there. Who I might add are getting paid a hefty amount to grade papers and tell you to go get a tutor if you need help because they just dont feel like actually teaching. The "academic counselors" are nothing more then customer service reps. Each time you call to try and reach your "counselor" you get a different rep and have to re-explain your whole situation. Not to mention that if you dont pass math after 3 tries your out! They threaten you with termination, but if you try to withdraw they try to keep you. It doesnt make sense!
I just withdrew and I am pretty sure they will try to slam me with the $1,500 bill for the remainder of the quarter. Now to make matters worse NONE of the classes I took there will transfer to my community college. So all the work I did for the past year and a half, all the loans I took out are straight down the toilet!
My community college offers the same courses as AIO for get this...$65 a credit hour! They also offer online options for my schedule!!! I was paying $463 a credit hour for AIO - I mean this is an OUTRAGE!!!
Please do research before falling for an online scam. It isnt the same as a real school only a way to make money. Even if you do graduate you will have problems finding a career. Talk to people who are struggling with this first before you take the chance. If you have dreams take them elsewhere. Dont fall for the same stuff i fell for!
