Collection notice received 2/27/08. Bankruptcy discharged on this very debt on 5/25/05. I contacted Afni by phone, explained their error and offered the Bankruptcy number for verification. I was told to "send some papers to us and I'll make a note that you dispute this debt." I explained that I was not disputing the debt, I was letting Afni know that they could not legally collect this discharged debt. She blew me off and told me to just "send whatever" and she'd note my dispute.
Meanwhile, my carefully rebuilt credit report has taken a hit due to these bozos, and my husband and I were turned down for a loan based on a collection action that we knew nothing about.
