While out for surgery, I got behind one mortgage payment. I contacted them in June of made arrangements to catch up and continued making my normal monthly payments. After 5 months they sent all of my payments back saying that they don't accept partial payments and I wasn't current on my taxes. When I called I was told that since I was behind on my payments (the ones they returned to me) that they were now force paying my taxes. I told them I would go over to the county building and pay the taxes myself and was told I wasn't allowed to now that I was behind in my payments, that they HAD to pay them for me.
I was told the would restructure my loan and lower my payment which was 746.00 at that time. No luck of course. Every month I got the excuse that it had to wait until next month and if I sent them $1,000 which would get me current. I did this for 4 months straight. Then I got a letter from my county tax collector informing my my property had been sold for non payment of taxes.in order to keep my home I would have to pay $1200 instead of the $400 it should have cost. When I called the tax department of SLS I was told that they had sent payment but it had been returned. According to the county SLS sent the wrong amount and refused to answer their calls and faxes requesting the correct amount.
Now I'm being told that I am 7 months behind on my mortgage payments although I have sent a payment every month AND iI have to pay them $7,000 in "FEES" which includes the additional $800 from the tax commission which is of course my fault for not paying my taxes. I received a bill last month (Jan 08) for $904.17 which I paid by MoneyGram. I actually sent $905.00. I received a letter last week telling me my payment was refused and to go to MoneyGram and get my money back which I did. When I called to ask why it was sent back they said it was a partial payment because now I owe $1830 for January and February AND they are charging late fees because they didn't get the January payment.
Again I was told they will restructure IF I sign papers agreeing that I am $7000 behind in my payments, pay $1830 this month and $980 for the next 2 months.
PLEASE!!! Let's get together and file a class actioin suit against these lying, theiving, so called mortgage specialists and get our "FEES" put toward the balance of our mortgage and stop them from continuing to rip off harworking folks trying to provide a home for their families. If we don't stand up and shout a lot of people will be out in the street because of companies just like this one.
