Complaint / Review
Portfolio Recovery Associates
False Credit Bureau Reporting

I'm yet another of the series of disgruntled consumers. Yes, I went thru a separation and where I could, made reparation for my debts. They are all resolved now except a Sear's Card I opened in 1994. I closed it in 2000 and Sear's charged it off that same fall. Portfolio bought it in 2005 and changed the date of last activity on my credit report from 7 to 9 to get it back on my credit report.

They began the harassing phone calls... Good news is all my kids have cells and I used VOIP so for a $10 charge, I changed my home number immediately. I filed a claim with equifax, but PRA continues to say it's true. I just filed a complaint with the FTC (it's easy to do online). Like mentioned by others earlier, when I refinanced my house, my mortgage company said DON'T make a payment, it falls off in Sept this year anyway... But it should have fallen off last year.

I'm looking for a next step? I need to go to storage where I have some old credit reports from when Sear's itself was on my report and they reported the CORRECT date of last activity and send that, where? Any help appreciated. I'm certainly not afraid of a little leg work and a lot of letters. Thanks usacomplaints.com.
