I received a collection notice from NCO for the amount of $6988.53. The former creditor was "CHASE/ASSIGNEE OF PROVI". I obtained all three credit reports, the account number they claimed did not exist for any account. It was not even close. I called Chase and gave them the account number. They told me that number never existed for anyone. I called "Providian", which is now WaMu and got the same response.
Can someone tell me why is this company still in business? I have read all of the other reports and they are all similar. Why has the government stepped in by now. This is clearly fraud and it crosses state lines using the postal service. This seems like the federal government should shut this company down.
This is the worst scam that I have ever been part of!
