I am a 19 year old man with a family who recently became homeless. Me and my family are staying at the homeless shelter in San Luis Obispo, Ca. I was trying desperately to find work and one afternoon I noticed an ad in the Local Paper that stated a demand for young sales people. I called and I was promised by a woman, paid training, good money, travel expenses for two weeks and a gauranteed return trip home.
The job was to travel the U.S. And sell magazines door to door. I didnt want to be away from my family but we were in a desperate situation so I accepted the position and started the job the next day. I was driven with another guy from San Luis Obispo to the city of Oxnard in California where I met a very sharp yet deceptive man by the name of Vinnie Pitts who was the owner of Pitts Sales (the company wich hired me) I went out the next day to begin training and couldnt believe the underhanded dishonesy that these young men and women were taught.
The "salespersons" pretended to be high school and college students from Oxnard trying to win a contest for kids and some of them were as old as 32! Within eight hours I had seen over eight hundred dollars in reciepts from Residents Of Simi Valley destroyed and disposed of and the money that people entrusted these "kids with, divided among the wolves. I was utterly disgusted and I decided I would let the boss know what his employees were up to.
When I confronted Mr. Pitts his smile turned into a snare and his eyes were lighted with greed and hatred for all who would stand in the way of his lust for money. He told me that he had ran his company for 12 years this way and that if I were smart I would keep my mouth shut or suffer consequences. I became very uncomfortable and I let him know that I was resigning my position. He became furious and the next morning when I inquired for my bus ticket home that was promised he ordered several of his other emplotees (if that is what you would call them) to harass and threaten me.
They finally gave me a ride to the Oxnard Transportation Center and told me that my ticket was paid for over the phone and that I could go inside and pick it up. I waited there for 9 hours until the place was almost closed until it finally sunk in that I had been lied to and ripped off.in the end I had to hitch hike back to San Luis Obispo empty handed with my head hung in shame for failing my family because I was unable to provide for them.
The bottom line is, Palmetto Marketing Incorporated (the parent of Pitts Sales) and Pitts Sales are Scam Artists and Rip-Offs. They steal from theeir customers and attempt to destroy those who oppose them. Unfortunately for them, I will not be destroyed and I will stand up for whats right and for what I believe in.
