Wow I truly escaped one here, thanks complaints!
I joined the nase and mega life and am very happy to say I got all my money back in full. What a scam, from the beginning they misrepresent everything but say all the right things to suck you in. The agent Steve Plank told us they had 700,000 members and spent a huge amount of monthly monies to this Mega Life so they could get the best policy for their members. He put us on a plan that was supposed to be $0 out of pocket expense for basic coverage (other than monthly fee) and 100% coverage for basically all regular well care stuff like doctor visits and physicals and so on. $150.00 max out of pocket for emergency room and $4000.00 max out of pocket for any hospital stay, but wait the Nase would then pay you $750 for Emergency room visit and $200 a day while in the hospital. Plus a whole host of other BS stories. So I paid for the first quarter of my insurance premium and also had to pay $195 to join the Nase, see you can not qualify for the insurance without be a member??? Then the trouble started, they sent papers showing they had nationwide 200,000 members? Why lie about that? 200,000 is not enough for your story? Then their were all kind of problems like attempting to get my medical records from my wifes doctor instead of mine and spelling her last name completely different than mine??? I mean two completely different names, how does that happen, so I tried to call the agent and nothing call after call, message after message no response. So I called the company and what a nightmare, everyone was to blame except them. It was the agents fault, my fault, my wife was to blame and her doctor did not cooerate... Unbelievable!
The more I called to try and get it straightened out the more rude they were and the more lies they told. So then all the sudden they could cover me on medical but not life and her on life but not medical??? We are young people in good health with no medical problems and no pre-existing conditions. We have not spent $500 on mediacal expenses in several years. They even told my daughter who happens to be on TV that she was to thin for their charts, then recanted and was going to cover her.
I called the State Insurance board and they said they had many hundred complaints and actually had verified over 100 what they call verified or justified violations. I asked why they had not been shutdown and they said it was a long process. So I checked out consumer complaints and wow what an eye opening experience. Other than a few Insurance agents defending Mega Life their is overwhelming evidence showing them to be scam artist. I got lucky and called asking for a supervisor and was able to cancel all association with them and they refunded in full. Tried to tell me it would take 30 days to get my money and I had them cut the chec locally so I could come pick it up personally. After some threats they cut me a check and I am done with them, except for some free advertisemenst for their scamming company.
What you read here is real, they will cancel you and never pay your claims when you truly need them. I have personally spoken with 2 other people that have had serious problems one was a brain cancer patient theat they just cancelled and left tehm holding the bag for several hundred thousand dollars in medical bills. Not to mention that they had to move from a nice hospital to the county free hospital here called Peter Smith to finish treatment and now he has passed away.
So i urge you to do some checking and protect your selves. I truly thank consumer complaints for offering a site like this to give us the info we need to escape another scam.
