This company calls all the time they often use a 1800 number because it doesn't show there name and they think you will call back becasue it is a toll free number.
They want you to contact them don't don't promise to pay google them and Statue of Limitations. These companys like Jefferson collections llc or compucredit want you to take there credit card offers becuase there time has ran out in most states you only have 4 years from the last time you paid you last payment then the clock starts if you have went past your States Statue of Limitations then they don't have to stop harrasing you but they can't collect if you tell them no. Unless you make arrangments and send them some sort of payment then the time starts all over again.
If they do take you to court you tell the judge or them that you are aware that the Statue of Limitations have ran out and the judge has to throw it out if you have made no prior commentments to pay them off. Also if you pay one off the rest read your credit report and come after you they figure if you paid one or two you will pay them. So don't pay tell they prove it is under the SOL.
If a collection company is in your state or hires a lawyer to collect for them and they are in your state then they can take you to court if they are not licensed in your state or have some one in your state then they can't collect. They can report and try to harrass you for 7 to 10 years but they can't collect after your states SOL you might have to fight that out in court but that is the law it is a Fedral Law use the internet to fight back against them and google any questions you have to fight back against them.
Also if you don't pay them off and you get new credit they fight harder to try to get you to pay they will go as far to obtain a judgement and go after your wages so fight back and know your rights.
Don't just belive them ask for proof.
Junk Debt collectors like this company and others buy old collections that are not able to be forced because of SOL so the want you to pay on the assumtion of being botherd and scared phone calls and letters.
They also Re date your debt they put a new number and a name and change the date this is illigal and lowers your credit score fight this with the collectiion agancies and get a lawyer or who ever you can because they do this to stop to a all time low they cheat still lie and threaten because they can't get you to pay. THere is no law to help you the goverment doesn't go after them but they should because they are breaking laws all the time. Maybe someone should file back against them and redate there Credit report and see how they like it.
Make sure you educate your self before you make a descion and remember they are counting on you being scared and intimidated so you will pay that way you won't educate yourself and tell them to take a flying leap.
