I am posting this to alert parents and girls out there not to sign up for this pageant! It's a scam!
I just got back from Las Vegas Miss Latina World, the year I don't even know sometimes they told us 2007 or 2008 or just miss latina world, our sashes don't have a year embroyed on it at all!
The pageant was supposed to be in July and they moved to October. I signed up June waited for so long for this was very prepared as I am for every pageant I competed or anything I do period!
Oh my God what happen there? My family and I like other contestans are trying to make sense of at all, It's a nightmare, a ripoff, how could I get into something like this!
They didn't have a hotel untill 3 weeks before the pageant!
They didn't have a schedule untill a day before the pageant!
The only thing we received that we paid for was the cheap crown ever and sash without a year
No beauty seminars
No sightseing (Dawn told us to go out with our families and do whatever we wanted, we thought we would have a limo taking us on the strip all together and have dinner like a decente pageant does Friday night)
No meals except for a pizza Sunday night. (Pageant started on Friday)
No transportation except for the one that took us to the theater for the finals
No official documents
No shirt (they said they changed opening number to a cocktail dress so that was the reason why we didn't get shirts we had to buy it, no our fault they changed that)
Her site says we are judged 1/3 interview, 1/3 swimming suit and 1/3 evening gown
Saturday Prelims: They said we would have a press conference and cocktail party and interview competition Friday night. No private interview with each judge one on one like decente pageants do.
Fact: There was not press but photographers that were paid by: Porto Rico, Kansas, Corona delegates, no midia at all in fact Dawn never contact the midia in Las Vegas I know because someone that knows her told me.
The judges did not have have papers or gave us points at any time, we were not supposed to know who the judges were but there were 5 there and no one with papers taking notes on us (scoring) so how did they score us on, overall look and speach, they have this good of a memory to keep each one of us points in their heads them write on the paper later?
They charged our families 25.00 to watch us talk and bid on the auction items we brought, charged our families to come in and bid!
Sunday: No breakfast, no lunch, photoshoot in the morning, they never told us how we would get our pictures, I just exchaged info with the photographer what about the other photographers I bet I'll never see those pictures!
2pm we went to the theater, guess what at a school! A community college ccs, the cab driver I took the night before laughed at me and my sis whem I told him where the pageant was going to be! I couldn't believe at a school theater, cheap, chessy, unorganized, unprofessional, no stage props, no performers. Tickets were 45.00 and 65.00 front row! There were 20 people watching, no midia or press, just our families there and she told us tickets were sold out!
We were told there was make up artists for those who needed, the only people that had make up artits were: Porto Rico, Kansas, Republica Dominicana, the rest were not allowed to have NO ONE BACKSTAGE TO DO THEIR HAIR OR MAKE UP! I asked Gabriela about the make up artist she said Marcus was there for her girl only (Kansas the winner) Gabriela was the coreographer, and Kansas manager, don't you thing this is unfair to the others, we never had a chance there ever!
Sunday morning Porto Rico's directors were talking about how his girl was going to win and how amusing the competition was in spanish and he din't know that Nevada spoke spanish too, because she spoke english the whole time, she heard everything!
Judges were: Dawn's boyfriend, Dawn's boyfriends friend, a clerk from the hotel, a local lady from Dominica Republica that during the "Press conference" sit with D. Republic's mom's and had drinks with them.
At the theater my husband had front row ticket but the only sits available was beind the judges Eliset didn't let anyone sit there! THE TOP 5 FINALIST FAMILIES SIT THERE AND TALK TO THE JUDGES THE WHOLE TIME!!!
Miss Uk's dad, got pretty ungry with the results and told everyone"I speak 4 languages I heard what they were saying this was fix this is garbage, the whole thing got caotic, my sister started shouting and my brother just wanted me out of there! The show was cheap, cheesy, ugly, a mess, we knew who the top 5 was going to be, they even allowed a contestant from the previous year compete, you have to skip at least one year before competiting on the same pageant!
And the queen's from the 2006 weren't there! They were supposed to be there from day one! Welcoming us, telling us about their accomplishiments and experience giving us advice, take the final walk and pass the crown to the new queen! That's what happens in pageants!!! PERIOD!
Congeniality didn't get her prize Dawn told her she had a certificate she would mail her later but the girl can't get hol of her!
Truth the directors are ridiculous people with no caracter or dignity, they run the pageant! Not just help out they RUN!!! Dawn IS NEVER AROUND!
How can someone have the heart to do such a thing? Dawn does nothing at the pageant the directors do and their girls make the top 5, Dawn is the scam artist! A promotor in Vegas that knows her told me she never contact the midia, she didn't prepare activites for us! Nothing! My friend took us to the House of blues VIP sitting and to the foundation room, she was there taking pictures which she will post on her web site and girls will look at it and say "wow! This pageant is great!" And sign up like I did!
We went to a party and no one from ther pageant board came, it was 2am and teen's were out with out an pageant chaparone supervision, and that party was for me and I invited every one, because there was nothing to do anyways! But since teen's came someone from the pageant should have come too!
I got back last night and haven't got any sleep yet I'm so shocked! I got 5 girls together to file a suit against her and even got hold of a judge to came forward and helps because this is not fair!
Dawn has several complaints at bbb, I file one today even contact cnn and they are interested in the story sent them an email about it, I won't rest untill everyone knows what happen and I get my refund back! Have also an appointment with a local lawyer tomorrow. This time Dawn you got the wrong person in your pageant, I so don't want to be you now, if you think you heard this before and are dealing with an stupid person from a 3rd world country you are wrong you won't have this pageant next year you won't, Gabriela you are a ridiculous woman, what pleasure do you take knowing that "your winners" like you said yourself win something that is fix?! Don't you have caracter or dignity?
We all knew from day one it was fix but was we were to do complaint and get kick out? Jesus it was in our faces they didn't even hide from us!
Program book was made at kinko's very cheap, bad quality, Dawn only put may add and Corona's ad on it she everyone else paid for the ads, very poor quality, recycled used toilet paper was used to do that program book!
There was only 5 teen and 13 misses half the contestants didn't show up! Ridiculous last pageant I participated (not Dawn's) had 53 contestans only 2 didn't come because visa issues.
And guess what I asked to see my points, they told me there's no points in her pageant, NO POINTS, NO SCORES, HOW DO THEY CAME UP WITH A WINNER, HOW MUCH DID SHE SCORE ON POISE, GRACE, FITNESS...
This is scam! Dawn you and your crew belong behind bars!
