The Chubb Institute Parsippany
A Horrible Learning Experience, Poor Curriculum, Program Directors and Instructors

Where do I begin? I hate repeating what others have already written about Chubb but it is all true. I consider the Chubb Institute to be the biggest rip-off institution around. If you are considering attending, I strongly encourage you to reconsider. Here's why, or at least some of it.

All but two of my instructors were horrible they clearly didn't understand the subject matter or were simply inexperienced. One instructor constantly made errors throughout his instruction or would say he needed to get back to us when he didn't know something. When we complained to the program director about this instructor he admitted that "this particular subject matter is not (name's) core competency and that Chubb is trying to get all instructors to a point where they can teach everything." At my expense? How is that fair?

Aside from touting its job placement assistance, Chubb misrepresented itself in its own Course Catalog. I chose Chubb for my education because of the way the program was described in its Catalog, specifically the Course Descriptions. Two of the courses were completely removed from the curriculum after we began the program.

During the middle of one session, our instructor up and quit leaving us to cram in the remaining information in a weeks time with a new instructor. What little I do know about the programs we were learning I either taught myself through books purchased on my own, through tutorials or through the help of my classmates. We have been offered tutoring but this was yet another Chubb empty promise.

One would expect that the computers and software used to teach computer-related material would be up-to-date or in good working order. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Computers crashed daily and unfortunately there was only one tech person to fix things. Poor guy.

The learning level of the students in each class was too extreme, so much so that I feel my learning experience was compromised. I am all for diversity but not when it impedes learning that I am paying for. When enrolling you are given an "important test" that you must pass in order to be accepted. Boy was I stupid to buy that one!

On several occasions I did meet with the program director and the directors of education (2) to express my dissatisfaction and each time I came away believing that things would change. The mistakes being made at the expense of the students were acknowledged. But it all fell on deaf ears. I even sent a letter to the president of the Parsippany campus and her response to me was along the lines of 'I wish you would have come to discuss your issues...' As if things would have changed.

I could go on and on here. I will repeat what I said in my opening paragraph: If you are considering attending The Chubb Institute I strongly encourage you to reconsider. Other "graduates" would agree.
