KinderCare Learning Center
Kindercare take it from an ex-employee—not a good place at all!

I can't believe I'm reading SO many NEGATIVE reports regarding KinderCare! Wait... I CAN believe it...
Today is Thursday, tomorrow is my LAST day at the hell hole! I can't believe I wasted 2 months teaching there putting up with the crap that I had to deal with. Of course Laura, the center director, never filled me in on the huuuge lack of teachers during my interview. I was also going to enroll my daughter into the school and by the way Laura was talking to me during the school tour, it sounded like this was the best place on earth to work AND send your baby to school. Boy, should I be careful next time!

I've been there 2 months and during most of that time, my baby was enrolled in the infant class. She has never been so sick in her life! She started with two fevers of 103.6 in 2 weeks, then she got bronchitis and an ear infection, then she never got better from being sick so she ended up with Pneumonia! After that finally cleared, she got pink eye—TWICE!!! The second time she got Pink Eye the teacher told me AFTER the fact that the week before TWO babies had it and did I ever hear anything about it?! No! My daughter threw up one day and I was also never told about that! I know why, too&that place is SO short on teachers that if Laura told me my daughter threw up, I'd have to leave work (the policy is to stay home 24 hours after fever, throwing up, etc) and if I left work, she wouldn't have anyone to replace me.

Because we're so short on teachers it makes for a REALLY bad day when teachers call in sick. There have been days when 6 teachers would call in and it finally gets to a point that I have to take care of 3 year olds WHEN i TEACH 5 YEAR OLDS! (or even hand my kids to another teacher while I act as a teacher in the baby room or anywhere else they need me!) I had to call in one morning because my daughter had the first high fever and Laura told me that 5 people already called in so I needed to come in—well, the whole reason why I work there is because my daughter goes there and so I had to bring my daughter into school w / a fever—which is 1) unhealthy, and 2) against policy!

The place is run sooo unprofessionally, it's ridiculous. It's accredited by NAEYC (National Assotiation for the Education of Young Children) and just by that alone, you have to meet strict high standards. Not only does NAEYC give them standards to TRY to live up to, KLC gives just as high of standards! It's gut wrenching to see everyone scrambling around the morning Corporate is coming just to try and get the place in order&to get the things done that SHOULD ALREADY BE DONE AND IN PLACE! I know for a fact that illegal things are happening (making employees sign documents when they're not true, etc). It's absolutely pathetic. I am very fortunate (in a sense) to have worked there because you really get to see what goes on INSIDE when you're part of it, rather than just being a parent who's there for a few minutes at drop off and pick up.

You wouldn't believe some of the things happening in the infant/toddler room! The babies in the infant room are literally left lying/sitting on the floor CRYING and nothing's being done about it. I can't tell you how many times I would look through the viewing window on my breaks and see my poor baby girl sitting on the floor at the teacher's feet just sobbing, and all she's doing is chatting it up with another teacher. I finally TOLD my boss my daughter needed to be moved to the toddler room (because we were still paying the $310/A WEEK infant tuition when my daughter was in the toddler room all day! And I get 50% discount when she moves to the toddler room!!!) One day, I was in the infant room (because they were short teachers so I get pulled from my room teaching the kids) and I heard my daughter crying in the toddler room next door. I look through the window and see the teacher laying her down on her cot. I thought my daughter was just giving a hard time because it was nap time (which I thought was unusual because she's good about naps). At the end of the day, she tells me my daughter fell and hit her chin on the corner of the table. LATER THAT NIGHT AT HOME, my husband and I noticed SHE CHIPPED HER FRIGGIN TOOTH!!! And the teacher didn't even notice! All she did was lay her on her bed after she got hurt and give her ice!!! AND I KNOW—I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES!!!

It is absolutely sickening the crap my daughter and I went through these past 2 months. Because she was sick SO often, I never worked a full week, therefor I never got paid what I was supposed to. My paychecks wouldn't even cover the $1240/month tuition for my daughter, so I ended up PAYING OUT OF POCKET. Not only did I NOT MAKE MONEY, I WAS LOSING MONEY AT THE SAME TIME!!! It's like I was a volunteer at this stupid place and still paying THEM to work there!!! I'm seeing so many parents coming in for tours to send their kid there and all I want to do is tell the parents they're better off without KinderCare!!! Take it from a mother and an ex-employee - do not, do not, do not send your child to kindercare!!! OR ANY OTHER KLC FACILITY!!!

I would call corporate offices and complain to them, but reading other reports, apparently, they're as lazy and unprofessional as the site directors!

Something else has got to be done!
