I have been a customer of T-Mobile for many years, but the last 2 phones I have upgraded with the offer of substantial rebate on the cost, have never materialized. Rebates Unrealized.
I have gone to the manager of the store, and despite copies of all the documentation, he is unwilling to do what it takes to respect the offers and make the rebates happen. I understand from other employees in that store that this is not an uncommon problem - many customers come in complaining that they haven't received their rebates.
Is this a scam? T-Mobile makes this fantastic offer on a fancy new phone, charges you full price, and sub-contracts to another company to handle the paperwork and cut the checks. Is that company incompetant, irresponsible, or criminal in "losing" the paperwork and failing to come up with the checks? Does T-Mobile have any data on the number of customers who buy phones with rebate offers that actually receive rebate checks? Do they keep a record of how many complaints they get from customers who did fill out the paperwork and never got their checks?
I think the whole thing is a scam. I don't want to do business with unethical or incompetant companies, but how do I get out of my contract? Here's another customer counting the days.
