Equity called me April and said that they could help me lower my cc interest rate. At that time, I only owed about $2300 on my cc. They told me that they would help me for a fee of $695. That would be two payments of $300.00 and $395.00 which wouldnt be taken out of my cc until June. They also said that if after one year, that they hadnt been able to help me lower my interest rate, they would put the $695.00 back in my ckecking account. I said I would think about it. When I received my cc statement in May, and I saw that the entire amount of $695.00 had been taken out, I called equity and asked them about this, "They told me that they had me on tape and that I had agreed to this." This scared me and I didnt know what to do, so I just let it go.
The entire year of I called equity and they would set up times for people to call me, sometimes they called and sometimes they didnt. I called in November and talked to a lady named Heather, she said that equity had gone out of business. She also told me that she didnt even understand why they even bothered with me for $2300.00. She said that she would try to get my $695.00 back for me. She suggested that I call my cc company, which I did.
My cc company told me that I had only 30 days to report this. So, I was screwed. I had to wait for equity to just give me back my money. I am still waiting for them.
My cc company suggested that I write a letter and tell them pretty much the same thing that I am telling you. Which I did. I hope noone else falls prey to these people, I thought that they would help me. I am on disablilty. I need to make ends meet, which is what most people have to do today.
So please tell everyone, do not go to equity account management or sometimes they call themselves equity management services. Beware, they will rip you off!!
