I recieved an automated message on my prepaid cell phone yesterday evening. The message was from DTech Billing Services and stated that I owed them money for collect calls placed to my phone. It gave a phone number and a website to go to. I visited the website today to see what this was all about.
As I said, the number they are saying recieved collect calls is a prepaid cell phone and cannot recieve collect calls.
In order to get any information off the website, you have to enter information "creating a profile". I did, just so I could get some sort of contact information for this company.
The website then states that I recieved a collect call yesterday 5/8/07 around 5:30 pm. It gave the phone number the call was placed from also. The phone number was "clickable" so I clicked it. It stated it was a NCIS Pay Phone on NCIS ST. It was a local number, and there is no record of this number on my recieved or missed calls list on my cell phone. The ONLY call I receieved yesterday was the voicemail from DTech stating that I already owed them money.
The story isn't over. I clicked on the "contact us" link at the top of the page. I entered my info again, and wrote in a data box the reason I wanted to speak to a live person. (No collect calls on my phone.) Oddly enough, my email was bounced back to my personal email as unable to deliver - delivery status notification (failure).
I will be calling their local number tomorrow morning, and leave an update here on what happens.
