I am the wife of a military member, in 2003 he took a 2600. Oo loan with Cashcall. We set the payments up on an automatic debit from our checking at 199.02 a month. It should have taken 42 payments to make this debt clear.
My husband deployed to iraq on december 30. On december 31 i got my first phone call that our loan payment had lapsed, so i sent in the payment along with the insainly high late fee. I told the man i spoke to i would send the payment right away via the mail he told me that i had to send it via moneygram because the payment had to be made before the end of the business day, so i rushed to pay this for fear that they would have some sort of legal action against my husband if i didnt do it their way.
Everyday since december 31 i have recieved a phone call from cash call representitives, on my home phone, on my cell phone and at the oddest hours of the day. I complied with them for 587.02 dollars worth of payments in about a month.
When i asked for specific information i was told no. I was called names, such as a liar, a bad wife, and was too stupid to deal with my husbands finances and that they would no longer deal with me.
As the spouse of a deployed military member i then told the representitive that i have the right to the information i requested and that i would not send in anymore payments until i recieved it. I then also told her that i was implementing the sailor soldier act which prevents them from contacting me any further for this loan. Can you believe i still get phone calls. I still get called names and i have been threatened that they would send a letter to my husbands chain of command.
I have told them that their tactics are unlawful and that i would, and have reported them to the Attorney Generals Office and i have filed a complaint with the ftc.
A 2600.00 dollar loan that they say would take 42 payments to pay back then please someone explain to me how four years later we are still owing over 2700.00???!!!
This company is the worst company i have ever dealt with and should be shut down to all citizens forever.
They have already been put on an off limits list to the us military... They should be slapped with fines and lawsuits and shut down.
