I took a free seminar class on Options. It was very basic. At the end of the seminar everyone was told that there would be a follow-up 3 day seminar in two weeks. The reason for the delay was that experts in certain fields had to be rounded up. I was told that you couldn't pass this up. You would leave the 3 days learning how to trade options. He said that he (speaker) was going to make it so that money was not an issue. He said that the 3 days would only cost $99. He said that we would get individual attention and an 800 number to get help whenever we wanted.
A lot of people signed up. No one got individual attention during the 3 Day Intensive Seminar (ha). Also we never got the 800 number that we could call to get help after the 3 day seminar was over. After I signed up for the 3 day seminar, I was given a Notice of Cancellation that expired in three days. How could anyone cancell and get his/her money back when we the 3 day seminar wasn't to start until 8/17/06 or three weeks later. I think that is illegal!
However, there was only one expert that gave 95% of the instruction. Every day he wasted at least 2 hours talking about his family, telling jokes, and criticizing people in the audience. His name is Steve Champa. During the first day, he spent more than an hour talking about his life and how he lost his business and was broke. He talked about he overcame obstacles to get where he is today. Steve wasted a lot of time everyday each day 20-25 minutes early. After 2 hours of the second day, Steve spent approximately 2 hours on the advanced classes. He started by handing out a sheet that had all the advanced workshops listed on it.
After Steve went over the cost of each workshops, I was in shock. The prices were outragous. Steve made it sound like he was doing you a favor. If you didn't sign up for the advanced workshops on the third day, they would go up in price. The first workshop cost $8,990! If you decided to take it later it would cost you $12,675. The most expensive workshop was $39,490. You were getting a great deal for it would cost you $65,565! How about that! You would save $26,095 by signing up tomorrow (the 3rd and final day of this workshop)!
On the final day of the workshop, people were signing up for the advanced workshops. This was about half of the people. Now came the high pressure tactics! One by one the rest of us was taken aside and talked to. You were made to feel stupid for saying no! Steve took me aside and told me how successful I would be by taking the six workshops he recommended at the Special Price of just $27,990!
I told him the workshops were too expensive and that I wasn't going to take them. I told him that I didn't learn what was promised in the introductory seminar. He ended by saying I got my money's worth. The last hour Steve talked about brokers. He had said earlier that he was going to give up a list of brokers. His list was very small as he only gave us 2 brokers. One was a discount (online) broker, and the other one was a full service broker. Below I listed several Lies stated by the Star Trader "Intensified Stock Market Training" pamphlet.
Under the section "Getting Started" there is " In addition, you will learn the Right Strategies for any particular stock outlook". Under the section "Your Star Trader Instructors there is " Classes are always taught by experienced and successful traders who use the very same concepts and strategies they will be teaching". Under Build Wealth Quickly and Safely there is "In fact, the real way to build long term, sustainable wealth is to keep your losses small without limiting your gains. And that is Exactly the Method you will learn at your Star trader Intensified Stock Market Training".
There were many other things stated in the pamphlet that was never done such as: giving us the Techniques and Strategies used by Professional Floor Traders, having our Instructors (ha - there 95% of the time there was only one) give us an Abundance of Hands-on Experiences, and finally our Training included and Individual Consultation with our Personal Success Coach (ha - no one had a coach unless he/she signed up for the advanced classes)!
