Oh, boy and am I tired of getting call from collection agencies.
Moved to Columbus in Sept.'06/got a new and unlisted phone number (for which I pay a monthly fee) and registered with the National DNC Registry.
Since moving here, have had well over 100 debt collection calls for the same person (she is listed in the Web white pages with my new number.)
Last night, after receiving a recorded call at least once a day for the last week from Allied (did not keep number/name), answered call that came in at 8:45pm.
I hoped to reach a real person, but, alas, was told "Thank you for calling Allied Interstate (which, of course, I did not do!), a customer representative will be with you shortly or you can leave a message."
Waited ten minutes listening to the same garbage and finally left a message which ended with my saying "Don't call again."
Reported these annoying calls to my phone company about 3 months ago. They said there wasn't really anything they could do and suggested that I just tell the caller they had the wrong person/wrong number!
Have recently learned that I can call the local police department and report this/all these calls - I believe that the local pd also has/had a warrant out for the person all these agencies are trying to reach - and they could help me out with these calls.
Does anyone have any suggestions - tried calling local Allied this morning but of course, got a vm saying "please leave a message and I'll call you back", WHICH I DON'T WANT, obviously!
From now on, will not answer the phone because it is clear I won't reach a live person (and, from other consumer complaints) may not want anyway!
Thanks for your help!
