Ripoff, unauthorized charges on credit card after cancellation of membership

I signed up for a free gas card online, so I had to complete an offer. I completed an offer with www.dealpass.com (aka Verture, Inc.). This company is Buying Club, where they offer discounted goods for a monthly charge. The offer was a 7 day free trial, after the trial I would be charged a monthly fee.

I cancelled my subscription within the 7 day free trial, because the program would be nothing I would ever use. I got some name and their id# at that time (September), but since I didn't notice any charges on my next billing statement I threw this information away.

Now 9 months later I notice a charge on my credit card made on June 19, in the amount of $12.95 from Merchant Today Escapes (877-820-6329). I called the number on June 23 and found out it is www.dealpass.com, and they claim I never cancelled, so I was being charged a monthly fee for 9 months.

I am pretty good at looking at my credit card statements about unauthorized charges, I never noticed a charge before, but I can't say for sure, maybe I just didn't notice it.

I talked to 2 people, first was Latochia (id#23826) and her supervisor Sharron (id#4689). I never used the program, plus I cancelled in September and I told them I wanted a full refund of $116.55 (9 months of charges at $12.95).

They would only refund me $25.90, which is supposed to show up on my next billing statement. They have a history of doing this according to other complaints made to the BBB.

I also read on the BBB, that in response to customers that complained about repeated charges over a period of years, the Company has stated that the terms the customers have agreed to include the automatic renewal of the membership each year at the then current price.

Does that include people who have cancelled??? Like ME! Obviously if people are complaining about charges, they must have cancelled their service, and the company just admitted that they have automatic renewal.

This is a big ripoff, do not sign up with this company. They go by many different name, more than I had room for above. According to the BBB report, they listed 36 different names, plus 28 different address in Omaha alone. They have many other locations throughtout the US. I know their headquarters are located at:
