Mentoring Of America
Ripoff, lies

Mentoring of America is nothing but a complete ripoff. They lie to you to get your money and then fight you to keep it. After I received materials from a reputable real estate company, Mentoring of America telephoned me in March and again in early April promising to enhance the profitability of my business by mentoring me. They promised that I would make the money charged to my credit card back within thirty days of using the program from the reputable company with their mentoring, thereby getting me on the road to success much sooner.

After receiving their packet, I found that not only was it incomplete within inself, but what I was promised over the phone was not included! I was already familiar with the material from the reputable real estate company, and within five minutes of talking with their "mentor" found that the "mentor" was not! I told the "mentor" that it was clearly obvious that I needed to and was going to cancel with them, immediately.

That was the first business day after receiving Mentoring's packet. Within a few minutes of that conversation, I telephoned Mentoring of America, pointed out and questioned the incompleteness of their materials. They tried to danced around the issue of the false promised materials missing. I told them that I was cancelling and wanted my card credited back. They told me that they would have another "mentor" phone me within two days (attempting to let their three-day cancellation come into play, which they had not told me about, only later). And if I did not agree to that I could not get back the credit.

I told them that I was sending back their packet and wanted credit back to my card, to which they became agitated. I immediately telephoned my credit card company, told them about the situation, and told them to stop payment to Mentoring of America. My cc company told me that it had not yet posted and there was nothing they could do until it did. But to ask Mentoring of America to credit it back, which I attempted to again, and it was out of the question. I tried many times to get through to customer service, called their corporate office and was told that they were experiencing phone problems in that department. When I FINALLY got through to customer service I got recordings and left several messages but no one returned my calls.

Eventually I got to talk to someone and got their return address, mailed back their materials, got a billing disputes statement from my credit card company, filled it out and faxed it back.

I received a call from Mentoring a few days ago. They told me that I had three days to cancel and they do not have documentation showing that I did. We argued back and forth, with me telling them that I called them on the first business day after receiving their materials and was not responsible for them not documenting it. They told me they were sending the materials back to me. I asked them how am I going to benefit from the same incomplete material?

I told them if they were going to send me anything, according to the Federal Trade Commission, for one, I want a detailed disclosure statement. They did not know what that was. I told them that is a document that among other things, includes a fully audited financial statement of them, the seller; the background and experiences of their business' key executives; and at least ten previous purchasers who live closest to me in case I want to contact them with whatever questions I have. They became agitated about the first two requests, and said they could send testimonials. I told them that I think many testimonials are people paid by the seller.

They told me they had me on recording accepting what they were selling, as a binding verbal contract. I asked them did they have the ENTIRE conversation between them and myself recorded? Where they promised something that was not even included in their packet? They told me they don't have that, only the recording contract portion. I told them I have proof of the portion of the conversation that they don't have, and I do. They told me that would not hold up in court because they were not forewarned.

They were supposed to have called me back shortly afterwards to let me listen to what they had on recording, but I have not heard from them since. I let my credit card company know through a faxed letter that I have been contacted by Mentoring of America, and the contents of our conversation.
