I send this notice as a warning to all landlords in the Dallas metroplex area: Denton, Lewisville, and Flowermound in particular.in the event that you come across a "Michelle Klein-Peterson" - think twice. DO NOT allow this woman to rent your home. A background check will not protect you - she uses several alias' (all variations of her own name) and has appears to have no criminal record. She lived in my home for 3 1/2 months and paid 1 1/2 months rent. At the time the eviction proceedings began, she had paid only ONE month's rent. She wrote a hot check for the 1/2 a month and then "made good" on it the day of court. She is skilled at evading eviction and manipulation of the court system. Ms. Klein-Peterson destroyed my home and stole everything not nailed down on the way out. Examples of destruction include but are not limited to: 23 urine stains on the carpet, holes in the walls, broken washing machine, boogers on the walls, and incredible filth. This woman removed the closet door from the master bedroom and put it outside in the elements on her way out, she pulled up all plants in the garden, butchered the shrubs, left approx. 100 cigarette butts in the backyard, and treated the lawn like the city dump. Examples of her theft include but are not limited to: lawn gear, gardening gear, outdoor electrical chord, plant pots, fence shelving units, kitchen sink aerator, toilet tank kit (out of the toilet), dishwasher wheels (to destroy it upon turning "on"), hose and reel, window boxes, galvanized tins, garden edging, solar lights, 9 foot ladder, 8 gallons of paint, BBQ accessories, and patio furniture... A whopping $1,899.00 worth of theft and nearly $1,000.00 worth of damage to my home. She was even kind enough to leave a note. Something to the effect of: you got what you deserve, what goes around comes around. Shocking. For normal people nonpayment of rent = eviction. For Ms. Klein-Peterson, it is personal. I should probably also mention that in the time Ms. Klein-Peterson lived in my home, she refused to allow the leasing agent access to inspect or make any of the repairs she demanded and then threatened me with a potentially serious but unfounded law-suit. At this time, a criminal investigation into the felony theft is pending. An eviction judgement in my favor was awarded but there is little hope of obtaining the money owed to me. Ms. Klein-Peterson does not appear to have had stable employment for years. She will lie on her application and claim to be self-employed. Her credit at the time she signed her lease was fine (recently divorced). However, in 30 days, the judgement against her SHOULD appear on her credit report. Please, please, do NOT allow this woman to rent your home. She will destroy it and steal everything you worked years to earn. Ms. Klein-Peterson was my first and last renter. Who knew people like her even existed?
