I have received an unauthorized bill for an unknown service tucked neatly in with my regular phone bill. Since the monthly amount was relatively small ($13.66) it went undetected by me for 4 months!
When I discovered it I immediately called the 1-800# listed on the bill and requested a refund. The operator assured me this would be done and gave me a confirmation #.
My next phone bill contained another charge for $13.66! The total of the fraudulent charges are now $68.30!
I continue to fight for a refund.in the meantime, this type of fraudulent billing can be immediately stifled by AT&T, SBC and other huge corporations with routine security. This is NOT the first time this has happened to me... Or to thousands of others by the look of complaints on the internet.
I would strongly support litigation to erase the deceptive billing system now permitted by these 'mother' Phone Companies.
