Ripoff Dishonest Fraudulent Billing

On January 9th, I received a phone call from a woman claiming her name was Jordan Lee. She said she had talked to our Controller earlier about ordering supplies and that he suggested she speak with me because I would know more about them than he would.

Well, she began listing items that we normally order and quoting them at insanely low prices because they were relocating and liquidating their warehouse and any help from us would be appreciated. Then she began to schmooze about Gulfport, MS and the hurricane, asked if I had been there, and said if I was ever in Gulfport to stop by sometime. She said she'd even throw in a palm pilot at no extra cost.

About a week later I received five giant boxes stuffed with the items I had ordered, only they were in grosses! Never once did Jordan mention these were grosses! Why would I order that many items when we have such a small office?

Just this week I received an invoice from them stating I owed them $6231.01! I immediately called the number on the invoice (228-863-8444) and it rang about seven times before a voice mail picked up. I left my information telling them to call me back, and amazingly someone called me a few hours later.

Her name was Joanne Miller. I asked Joanne if a woman named Jordan Lee worked there and she said, Oh yes, she's the owner. I said, Well, Jordan called and said she talked to my boss previously and never told me these would be gross amounts. I need to return them. Immediately she came back with, How about we just reduce the amount by 50% due to the miscommunication? I said, Well, I don't believe that's going to fly with my boss. She said, Why don't I fax you an invoice with the corrected amount? And I said she could go ahead and fax it, but it still wasn't going to work. I asked for an address in which I could ship them and she said, The new store hasn't opened yet so there is no where to send them. I told her I'd call her back.

While she was doing that, I compiled a spreadsheet of the amounts I DID order and how much those were; I wrote a letter telling them we did not intend on keeping the items, she had better give me an address to ship the items, we'd contact the BBB, a check would be following covering the items we DID use, this was crooked business, blah blah blah; I copied both invoices; and I mailed these FedEx requiring a signature so no one could claim they never got our letter.

This morning I got a call from Joanne saying, I got your letter. That was unnecessary! I said, Well I don't think it is. She tried threatening me with, Well, there are actions we can take, too, you know. I said that was fine and had her talk to my boss. She said, Why don't we take fifty percent of the blame and Misti take fifty percent of the blame? My boss said, Can you give me a reason she should take any blame? She couldn't. And all of a sudden she was changing her tune and said she'd send us mailing labels so we could return them.

How is it they SUDDENLY got a mailing address for us to ship the items? And the funny part? When I asked if Jordan Lee worked there, I don't even think that was the correct name that I was supplied with originally! But she's the owner? Crooked, crooked people!!!
