On friday, yesterday Adavntage America called my cell phone. They wanted to speak with me, but instead they spoke with my boyfriend. Of course he is money hungry so he listen to what the person on the phone had to say. They were giving me a 12,500 grant.
He proceeded to say that the person on the phone should speak to me. No! They wanted to continue to speak with him. Whereas he gave them my checking information. Then they proceeded to tell my boy friend there will be a one time fee of 49.95.
He hung on them. Having just got in from work. My boyfriend told me the news. That he had given these scam artist my account information without my permission.
I called the number back, just to have someone hangup in my face. But, they called right back and said that I needed to listen to a recording and say yes to all the answers.
I proceeded to tell this person that I was agreeing to anything and that they took my personal information from my boyfriend not from me. And that they had commited an illegal act and I was going to report them.
The man then proceeded to say "well I already have your account information"! I said to him "like I can't closeout my account"!
Then I said grants are free! I have never heard of anyone paying for a grant. I ask what government agency he was working for and where are they located. HE answered the questions.
Then I asked where did he receive my information from he stated from research. I asked if he had ever received a so-called free grant from the company he is working for. He said yes and that I didn't have to pay the 49.95 out of my account but that will charge it to my so called grant money.
I said I didn't want the grant money just tear up my account information. He stated he couldn't that. The company was still going to charge my account.
I said that I was calling Better Business Bureau. Then his manager got on the phone and said that they didn't want there company to receive a bad name and that they were not a scam. And that I didn't have to pay anything at all.
They were going to give me the money free! Just to not contact BBB on them. And that they already have my acccount info which he agreed was illegal the way the representative took without speaking with me.
And to please listen to the recording and receive my comfirmation # And just cancel it. So that was what I did. I immediately called the customer service # 1-866-503-7345. And spoke with a person with same voice as the manager.
He said that he could not cancel the information because I had just opened it. I said how do you know you didn't even ask for my name or confirmation #.
He hungup on me. And never answered the phone again. I called the following day again no answer. I called my bank informed them of the situation and then closed my acct.
Now they can't get jack. Grants are free. You do not have to pay for it. And plus you have to get approved first.
Don't be like my dumd ex-boyfriend and give out other people acct#. Do your research first.
