I was sitting in my home on Thanksgiving Night at about 7P.M. My fiance answered the phone and proceeded to bring it to me saying we have just been selected to receive a $12,500 grant from the government. I didn't believe the woman who identified herself as Ms. Janelle Devine ID #49021 from Advantage America. She told me this story that I didn't believe but listened anyway, she asked for my checking acct.info saying the money will be deposited in my acct. Tomorrow (which is now today) at 10:00 A.M. She also said she was putting me on a recorded line to verify all info. But when she put me on the recorded line it asked me a series of questions, just like the ones she asked, but it NEVER said once that I was receiving a government grant only that in 2 days $49.99 will be debited from my checking acct. The recording also went on saying if I wanted to be a member for years to come applying for grants it will be a $299.99 membership fee but I was under no obligation and could cancel at anytime and gave the # 800-503-7345 but it was really 866, it also said I would receive some long distance carrier free for 10 days but had to call 800-923-8939 to cancel or I would be charged $19.99 for first time then $49.99 each month there after. I disagreed to the question 3 times and each time this Janelle woman reasured me that this was real and even had the Supervisor JOSH get on the phone, with each reasurance getting more aggrevated and rude. I still don't know why I decided to go along with this stupid scam but I did. So this morning I went on line and found a web site telling me I needed to be a member to access any information, and also this site. I went to my bank and closed my account and have all new information with a different bank but if there is anything I can do about what they tried to do to me and am more than willing to comply. People like that need to be taught a lesson and need to pay the price for what they are doing, it is not right. I have no idea where the money is going but I will tell you that the people I was speaking to sounded like they were from Iraq or India or some place like that, so I can only imagine where our hard earned money is going!!! These people need to be stopped and prosecuted for their actions!!!
