I first enrolled in Strayer University in November after much difficulty. As a blind student I was mandated to provide needed documentation to utilize reasonable accomodation. I paid my enrollment fee and proceeded to transfer my paperwork. I advised the enrollment representative that I had never attended college and needed to know if there were any admisssions test requried. I was advised "No" I also asked it the school would accept rehablitation funding as a portion of tuition through PO/direct billing and was advised yes. I enrolled in three classes and was not provided the necessary accomodation as requested such as PDF fillable forms, advance syllabi and professor contact info as well as additional time if needed to meet the homework and testing requirements for the classes.
Needless to say this was all agreed to but never enacted, rather I was threatened after paying for the courses to be kicked out of the school, and have been repeatedly threatened since.
I do not feel that I should be harrassed and when I filed a complaint I have repeatedly been threatened by varied members of the school. It is far from the top of the line I was lead to believe and I am sure you are wondering why do i simply not quit? After more than $20K invested and countless hours of hard work on my part I feel this school owes me the education for which I am paying. The public needs to be made aware of the facts and stop sheltering the members of one of the US largest educational money making organizations. After all if you and I as the consumer did not pay the fees they would not be having a school. They as well as all other Universities need to revise their view and look at the fact that we are adult consumers not pre-school children and stop treating us as if we were less than what we are.
We work hard to afford the rates they charge and deserve only the best qualtiy avilable not ayrian attitudes.
