I received a call on Sat Oct 3 from a 00 1816 # on my cell phone, a Mary Chan #088 from Grant Services Inc stating I had been approved for a $6000 grant from US government and that I wouldn't have to pay anything back all they would need is a $49.95 processing fee and I would receive government documents in the mail after the received the processing fee. I was then asked for my bank acct # so the funds would be direct deposited in to my account 21-28 days after they received my signed documents. I was then asked info & recorded answers w a No/Yes response.
Then a few days later I got another call from a 00 1416 # an Ana from Advantage America I let the person know I already was approved & someone had already taken my info down & recorded, she stated there not affiliated w Advantage america. GSI has a NY address where Advantage has a Florida address? I was informed there was a computer crash & that that info wasnt "valid", so i was the told I had been approved for a $12,500 grant from the US government not knowing there was a scam going on.
So I went along with what was being told to me. I was told I would receive documents in the mail to sign & send back after counting the days she said that they would need to deduct $49.95 out of my acct & that if i wanted to keep receiving grants for the next 6 yrs there would be a charge of $298.00 deducted from my acct. I asked how did you get my number and how I was selected she said its because I had paid federal taxes in the past too good to be true so I was given a date of Oct 17th to be deducted out of my acct.
So days past I check my acct summary to find out it was taken out on Oct 11th. So I called back to see what was going on all I got was mam we can't pull up your information @ this time call back tomorrow. I got a track # from both places Ana gave me 1018341 and this Mary Chan gave me 2196273 so I called back the next day to get no info.
That's when i knew it had to be a scam! Wwhy would the government be giving you $ if you have to pay for it? So I immediately closed my acct and started w a new one. Luckily my bank worked with me because I let them know I didn't authorize no one to take out of my acct. Luckily I searched on the internet and found this site. What I don't understand is how are the people getting away with using Government officails to scam people? I think these people need to be shut down. They're scamming Americans nationwide isn't there anything anyone can do? Also how are they calling w these heavy accents but using American names?
