12 Oct Approached by a rather tired looking italian guy in a suit who spoke broken english, same story, showed me a passport, tickets, and some other type of credential.
Assured me that he was only trying to avoid paying taxes on the jackets at the airport. Used a lighter to show me the quality of the jackets by attempting to light it on fire.
Asked me for $250 for 3 jackets, I bit on 200 after examining the jakcets, and because I knew something may not be right I told him all I had was $160. He went for it, I went down in his book of suckers.
A few things in hindsight that should have tipped me off.
The initial statement was "last 3 jackets" then when I told him that I didn't need those sizes, he reached into his SUV and got the ones I needed.?
The display of his credentials were fast, they documents looked legit, but he was not willing to let me examine the items.
The plot to the story was good. Since I am an honest person I didn't think it was a rip off since it was so well orchestrated with documents and even the italian! Very devoted scammers!
I did recieve the jackets so I guess in reality I was just a fool for a illegitimate product. But they look nice and they will be making nice $55 a piece gifts for christmas this year.
Next time I get approached, I'm going to do them a favor and call the police while I stall them. That should be a great encore act they won't be able to help but perform!
