Merchants Credit Guide called me in April stating I owed a credit card debt from 2001. They advised me they didnt have to give me any info, that I owed it and had to pay the bill. I said i didn't know anything about it and said i would do research and hung up. Well then the calls started coming early in the mornings, which really pissed me off. I called them and said i will send a cease and desist letter. The guy i spoke to told me to fax it to him in Chicago. Then I get a letter from New York advising me of a "great deal" to pay the whole thing off at a discount. I called MCG back and they said they never received my fax, of course! And said that i couldnt send it by fax anyways. So i sent another copy by mail and this time advised legal action would be taken if te calls didnt stop. Ive never had bad credit card debt on my credit report, so i pulled it and lo and behold, MCG reported it to my bureau. I'm now in the process of trying to get this removed. After researching this company, I'm convinced they are a scam. I have since called the Illinois Better Business Bureau and have been advised of MCG's track record. There has to be a way to stop this company from ripping people off!!!
