PDQ Staffing runs ads for job openings all over the Career Builder site for "Admissions Advisors" positions with their client, American Intercontinental University, which is also affiliated with Colorado Technical University. Both schools are owned by the parent company Career Education Corporation (CECO is the ticker symbol for this company, which is traded on the NASDAQ), which, if you have been following the bad press, is currently embroiled in scandal, is under investigation by the SEC, and is facing angry shareholders and students who feel they have been taken for a ride.
What goes on is that the staffing company, PDQ Staffing of Glendale Heights (NOT to be confused with another company of a similar name out in California), uses the ads for "Admissions Advisors" on Career Builder as bait to lure in potential students for AIU online to totally take advantage of.in other words, when you show up for an interview with the staffing firm to try to get the temp-to-hire job with the University, YOU are viewed as a potential student for the University! PDQ wasn't really trying to fill that many temp-to-hire positions for AIU in the first place, but was trying to bait unsuspecting people to try to get them over to the University locations in the Chicago suburban area where the people from the University then try to get some of those people signed up as students.
For more information on just what is going on with AIU, you can easily do a search using the terms "Career Education Corporation" to find out about the SEC investigation, the 60 Minutes expose on the company, and websites like consumer complaints, where people who have been approached by AIU or Colorado Technical University have been subjected to the hard-sell tactics, some even falling for the scam and enrolling with the University for more money than they could spend at a community college that offers online courses!
The worst thing about PDQ Staffing's involvement with AIU and Colorado Technical University is that not only do they not tell people who come to the interview that they, themselves, are going to be viewed as potential students and given the hard-sell by people who want them to enroll for the online courses, but also, because PDQ is running ads for temp-to-perm jobs that many jobseekers are taking seriously. The truth is that the University doesn't even hire everyone who gets lured to this huge cattle call where they are just viewed as fresh meat to make some money off of.
Furthermore, the associates who work for PDQ Staffing are well aware of what goes on because their own people have also done a temporary stint as "Admissions Advisors" for the schools owned by Career Education Corporation, whose stock has plummeted as a result of the critical media attention.
If you are a job-seeker, do not waste your time answering ads for anything put out there by PDQ Staffing, because they are just wasting your time and they are well aware that Career Education Corporation is involved in scandal. There are other, more reputable agencies one can utilize if they are looking for work through a staffing/temp agency.
Beware of American Intercontinental University, Colorado Technical University, Career Education Corporation, and PDQ Staffing of Glendale Heights, Illnois! Beware!!!
