My experience with BCTI was Bitter Sweet, More Bitter than Sweet though.

My Husband of 10 years had just left me, I had two small children to care for and was suddenly forced to rely on DSHS.
I graduated highschool and got married and was a stay at home mom for 10 years. After my husband walked out and I found myself unable to adequately care for 2 young children and forced to apply for Welfare.
Upon one of my visits to the DSHS office I was approached by a recruiter for BCTI. After talking with him I talked to my parents about possibly attending there as they would be a large portion of me being able to go. My Parents went with me to check out BCTI and after much disscussion (all of in the office at campus, being told I should make my decision before I could get "cold feet") My parents and I decided this would be a good start to get my life back.
For 7 1/2 long months I attended this "institution of Higher learning". I went to the night classes while working a full time day job. My parents would pick me up from the ferry every night and the occasional saturday, Take me to school, Watch my children for me, Pick me back up from school and drop me back off at the ferry. (I lived on Whidbey Island at the time)
Not only did this cost me my outrageous tuition of which I still owe 6,000 (and have had to have 2 forebearences on) it also cost me an additional $160.00 per month for the ferry commute.
While attending BCTI knew more than my instructors at most times and was given the ACES project to complete (it took me less than two weeks to complete what should in their mind taken me a few months.)
I admit I had very nice instuctors, (Carol, Jim and Mary being my favorites). My Keyboarding instructor Carol helped keep me from making a huge mistake. I had befriended a co-student and when Carol, knowing I had two small children, saw where this could be leading she risked her job for me by taking me aside and telling me that he was a registered sex offender and I later found out not only was he a sexoffender but a pedifile. I tried to distance myself from him and he would not lay off.
While BCTI did help me get a job (Thank you Mike!) it ended up after getting hired not to be true to the job discription, I ended up spending most of my time filing papers or calling on collection accounts. This was not the best job but I really needed it for my childrens sake. As soon as I graduated I ended up having to quit this job because the co-studend I mentioned kept harrassing me at work, calling all the time and just showing up at my place of employment. Not only did I have to change my employment, I also had to move inorder to keep my family safe.
I had considered going to Phanse II but now am glad that did not work out.
While at BCTI they went through 3 deans and several various instructors the only instructors I had from start to finish were Carol and Jim. Unfortunaltly Mary left half way through, my whole class was surprised and upset at her leaving with out any notice, we were told she left for other opportunities but now I wonder if she really left or if she was fired, as I noticed she locked hornes a couple of time with various Deans.
I can't help but think if she left of her own accord that she would have let us all know, rather than just not show up again.
My biggest complaint while attending there was that I had 100% attendance and on one of the many days that we had no instructor I managed to be marked absent from my last class one night (good trick considering I didn't have a car and had to wait for my mom to pick me up), So I did not get my award or giant Wepul I was trying to earn for my son.
So, I paid a whole lot of money, (still paying)
recieved little education
got stalked
landed a job that I had to quit because of being stalked
Lost my 100% attendance
and now have a worthless certification
Needless to say the experience leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I feel bad for all the other students and instructors that where taken by BCTI.
I would wholeheartedly join in on a class action suit if there is one. I still owe over 6 grand and have no Idea how I am going to pay it back when I can barely make ends meet as it is. The only reason I do make ends meet is because of DSHS.
