I too was enamoured by the add posted in the London Free Press offering professional assistance for those seeking a career change. I have sought the help of Government employment agencies and counsellors for a year, but to no avail. BHA's ad was too tempting to pass up. I have sent out 40 some resumes in the past year without so much as a phone call notifying me of its receipt.
I was welcomed into an office that was right out of the movies: Corner office, nothing but windows on the 21st floor. I was inondated with percentages and statistics. As a graduate of psychology I knew that these could only be numbers picked at random and fired at me for their effect, but I was overwhelmed and they were working. Jeff Watson has used the same speech, and the same numbers that I have now read in this site. He has given me until February 21st to decide to stay or not.
I am outraged that this has happened! For the past month I have been put through immeasureable turmoil. My husband and I, who are recently married and new homeowners argued endlessly about raising $6800.00. I was convinced by Jeff Watson that the jobs I would be looking at started at 50 and 60 thousand a year. I figured that I could pay back our loan for the fee very quickly. How can they charge a fee of that size without a guarantee??? If someone had that kind of money to throw around they don't need assistance with finding a career! Jeff refused to guarantee me anything. He told me that if I doubted BHA then he had misjudged me! He told me to convince my father to loan me the money, and if my father believed in me that I could successfully complete the program he would not hesitate to assist me! This man actually tried pinning family members against each other to suit his cause! Jeff made me feel foolish for not putting the fee on a credit card and paying the monthly balance. After calling the bank and determining the minimum payments on that amount, my husband and I sat endlessly trying to calculate a way to make this opportunity work. It is for all of this that I am furious.
I was given a golden carrot and had it placed behind a barbed wire fence far beyond my reach. I could go and get it, but would be badly scarred for my troubles.
I too asked for references, and was given similar responces as I am reading on this website. Jeff Watson suggested that a doctor would not distribute clients' phone numbers who had received surgery that I was about to receive. I replied that there are only 2 kinds of surgery and for one of them client testimonials don't matter as it would be an unavoidable health matter. The other is cosmetic and for those you are always given client refferals. He then said that that was different! He told me that he could show me letters from satisfied clients. But since he stressed the fact that they were professional marketers constantly and repeatedly, how could I believe that those letters weren't professionally marketed???
Not unlike the testimonials from people I have now read on this website I was desperate and was willing to do anything. I cannot express my overwhelming gratitude to you all for saving me. A financial blow of this magnitude would have seriously wounded the lifestyle of my husband and me.
