I too was ripped off by Washball, American Values, and Utalk. I was offered free gas cards and I was told that I would only have to pay $1.95 for shipping. I was also told about other products and that I'd be sent information but I had 7 days once I received the information to cancel before I would be charged for them. My intention was to go ahead and cancel the information as soon as I received it and that's exactly what I did. I told the telemarketer that I was not interested in all of the other products and that I only wanted the gas cards.
It was a while before I received the information. I called and cancelled as soon as I got it. However, I found out that the $79.95 had been taken from my account a couple of days before I even received the information in the mail. I called to get it straightened out and they told me that I had to fill out a request form for my refund. I did that and sent it back. They said it would be here within 10 to 12 business days. That was in March and it is now December and I have yet to receive a check.
I was also told that my situation was priority in the "top office" because I have complained several times. It doesn't seem to be making any difference. As a result of all of this, I had to change my account because they kept trying to take money from my account even after I cancelled the product. The only reason why the other branches of their company were unable to remove any money was because I didn't have enough money for them to take. I was charged over $30 for insufficient funds that they claim they aren't responsible for as well. So as a warning to anyone, don't accept anything offered from telemarketers. If you do, this could happen to you as well.
